A few scouting pics.....
#1
After the "how to distinguish fawns" thread.....I decided to go into the woods Saturday morning......to see if I might get a few shots of some fawns. I didn't see a single fawn.....but saw about 12 deer......only one being a buck with a little bit of growth, already.
All of these shots were shot in near dark conditions.....but Ithought you might like to see a few deer, anyways. One-time shot (my scouting adventure). I won't go back in there until the season begins. The buck never came around.....but I had a group of three does that were very curious.....and one of them extremely curious.
No enhancement on the photos. These weren't blown up for posting purposes. They were this close, at times.
Enjoy.....

Thanks, Moho. I read what you guys wrote on the other thread.....and I subscribe to your way of thinking, too (not going into your hunting spots). I really didn't see the harm, this early....and I don't make a habit of it. I was really curious to see some fawns.
What has me a little perplexed is......none of the does looked like they were still carrying (what do you guys think?)......and none had a little one in tow.
Admittedly.....the deer here don't have very large bodies......but I thought I should at least be able to tell that they were carrying...or not. I'll defer to you guys more experienced to tell me.
The lone buck I saw was running with the does. he had the classic signs of a 1.5yr old. He looked just like a doe with antlers. VERY skinny neck.......but he was distinguishable by his body size compared to the others.
I think they still look funny with their Summer coats. I think they'r emuch more beautiful when they blow this coat for their more grey Winter coat.

The one doe got inside 20 yds. I was a little surprised. I did have on full camo......even a facemask.....and I was sitting on my turkey stool besdie a tree. She still surprised me with her curiosity.
My game cam's on my mineral site......a few hundred yds from whereI actually hunt. that'll be as close as I get from now on. I'll be checking the trail cam during lunch, today. More pics (hopefully) to follow, later today.
