In search of a new target...

The Yellow Jacket bag target just isn't cutting it anymore.

I'm down to seven arrows from the original dozen. The arrows are plowing through my target and into my shed. They will not pull out and wind up bending or breaking before I can get them completely out.

I've tried wrapping the target, stomping it, etc... But after a few shots they start driving completely through again.

Suggestions are welcome.

Dan, I got one of those layered foam targets from BassPro, and I use my "dead" bag target directly behind it. I am NOT exaggerating when I tell you that foam target has over 10,000 shots into it. W/out the bag behind it though, they would go through but the combination is VERY good.

You may just want to try a Block if you dont like the bag targets and if you shoot mainly field tips, it should last a while.

I would suggest the Morrels "Outdoor range Target".

I have two of them and they are great targets.

I agree 100%. The club I am a member at has one for 20, 30, 40, and 50 as well as a whole field course of 14 of them. The ones shot the most last all season, may need stomped a few times but last a season. There are about 40 guys that shoot these at least multiple times a week and about 200 guys that shoot at least to get ready for hunting.

Why not a 3D target?

Another vote for the outdoor range target by Morrell.

This target is atleast 3 years old and I replaced the cover for 20 bucks over the winter.

A stomp and a rotation is all that is needed from time to time.

A piece of coal mine belt behind the target would help with your problem.

I have one.

I like to mix things up a bit. ;)

How does the Outdoor Range compare to the Super Duper? Basically the same? We carry the Super Duper at work, just not the Outdoor Range.

As far asBlock style targets go... I have one and gave it to my friend. I couldn't pull my damn arrows out unless Itipped it on its side and stood on top of it.It stopped my arrows too well. :D

Dan:

I have the same problem with my yellow jacket.....so I don't shoot fieldpoints at it. There's a guy here, locally, that makes targets out of layers of rubber. They're great targets.....and I have to think there's people making these everywhere.

My 2.5' x 2.5' cost about $70. I bought it for my son in the Fall of '05.....and we've been shooting at it every since. It'll probably make it another 2 years.

I know you don't have too many shops out there, though, Dan.....but I'm betting some of the shops have someone making these for them.

I am not familiar with the super duper or atleast have not used one but at half the price I would assume it is half as good.

The new Lancaster catalog says they will stopmost YOUTH arrow so that would concern me.:D
