RE: In search of a new target...
I love my Block 4X4, and I think it was worth the price. But, I havent gotten that many arrows into it so i cant really say anything about its durability

RE: In search of a new target...
Dan, I just bought a Morell Super Duper last week and have only put a few shots into it. I would have bought the Range target but didn't want to spend that much money. The best target I ever had was a Pro Stop Magnum, it lasted for many years, but I don't think its made anymore, or at least by the same company. You can't beat a good bag target for field points, it will outlast any other target made.

RE: In search of a new target...
I bought a new bag target this year, and the best thing I did was keep my old worn-out bag target and place it behind my new one... I've shot a LOT this summer, and I'm starting to wear out some spots on the new one already -- but having the old one behind it stops them in their tracks. If you get one, try doubling it up like that... it works wonders.

RE: In search of a new target...
ORIGINAL: Washington Hunter ORIGINAL: GMMAT Why not a 3D target? I like to mix things up a bit. ;) How does the Outdoor Range compare to the Super Duper? Basically the same? We carry the Super Duper at work, just not the Outdoor Range. As far asBlock style targets go... I have one and gave it to my friend. I couldn't pull my damn arrows out unless Itipped it on its side and stood on top of it.It stopped my arrows too well. :D Tim |
RE: In search of a new target...
I just got a rienhart target and it is great we shot bows from 22-70lbs and it holds the arrows and is easy to remove them. Best target I have ever had.

Dan, how long did your yellow jacket bag last?

RE: In search of a new target...
ORIGINAL: MdDave Dan, how long did your yellow jacket bag last? I shoot 20 - 30 arrows a day. I shot the 5 spot league back in what, February? So add that to the equation. Then I'll shoot 50+ arrows on the days I don't work. Plus family and friends have come over and shot with me. It's been shot probably 2,500+ times since it was purchased. |
RE: In search of a new target...
hmmmm i was thinkin bout gettin one... might think twice now..

RE: In search of a new target...
The yellow jacket is a much better target than the block so don't go there.
I'm guessing you shoot a lot of broad heads? I've shot my morrell a lot more than 2500 times with just field points and no major damage what so ever. Tom |
RE: In search of a new target...
Try getting a replacement cover for the yellow jacket. They are about $15 but they really extend the life. You could even put a layer of card board between the new cover and the old target.
I have found that the rinehart 18:1 target is very good also. When it is warm from the sun the arrows, whether field tips or broadheads, come out easily. If you mostly shoot field tips the rinehart will last forever. It is holding up very well with the broadheads but, because of the nature of the broadhead, they will eventually eat it up but that should be 1000's of shots later. |
