Just to be curious... what is your longest kill shot with a bow? If you have pictures of that animal please post for all to see!

Wow, I cant imagin this thread starting some heated arguments ha ha. My longest kill shot with a bow was 51 yards on a doe.

how long have you been bow hunting and with what achery tackle did you use....traditional, compound, or crossbow?

well me and my buddyearl went down to a yard sale in town and picked us up some bows. there were sights on it so i figured they musta been on target since they looked purdy good. we bought some arrows, all different kinds of'em that way we could have a wider selection. we went back in our feild and we seen these deer bout 400 yards away so we started flingin arrows at 'em. eventually we hit one and we tracked it for about 100 yards and we found it. so yea, bout 400 yards :D:D:D:D:D;)[8D]

Ive been bowhunting for 18 years and I was using a bowtech allegiance set at 70lbs, 29inch draw, 360grain arrow at 310fps. My choice of broadhead was a wasp boss bullet 75grain with a 1inch cutting diamter. The deer was at a pretty good quatering away angle, arrow entered at the last rib and came out slightly in front of the offside shoulder. The arrow stuck in the ground like it didnt even touch anything and the deer dropped about 50 yards from the arrow.

Nice story thanks for sharing! I just started last year and I was able to harvest 2 hogs and a doe the two hogs were at 20 and 35 yards and the doe was at 15 yards. I used a pse fireflight with predator arrows. I just recently got my girlfriend into bow hunting and she loves it (she only shoots up to 20 yards but hey its a start)so we'll have to see how this year goes. Hopefully it will be as successful as last one was! Once again thanks for sharing

30 yards on the run on a doe in 2003, don't ask me how I did it, nor would I ever do it agian, it was a stupid thing to do, I got lucky and I hit her in the spine. At the time I was using my Mathews Zmax, and as I do today I was using Muzzy 100gr. 3 blade

My longest yardage harvest was at 25 yds. I hunted with a crossbow from 1988 til 1994. I have hunted withcompound bow only, since 1995.

I've taken two bucks at 41 yards. Only one I have online or on the puter to show, this one from the 04 Bowhunting Contest.



As for statistics,

25 years bowhunting, competitive 3D for more than 10. Hoyt VorTec, ACC's , Rocky Mountain Snypers at 285 fps.

i don't care if anyone believes me or not, call me irresponsible or unethical or whatever (just wanted to get that out of the way)...mine was 62 yards on the buck I killed this year. With a witness on hand. He was on the rangefinder. Bowtech Tribute, 70 lbs, GT arrows with a spitfire XT. Dropped him within 50 yards.

Furthest kill was a ground hog at well over 60 yards with my field archery bow w/ scope and long stabilizer. Furthest deer was a 42 yard doe about 4 years ago, and a 43 yard buck this year. Both dead in under 40 yards from where they were hit.

My longest kill was about 100 yards on a Goose with a recurve back when I was about 14. People sometimes ask me how many arrows it took to get the job done and I always tell them "one". :D

When I was in High school and lacking some knowlege I shot an antelope at 67 yards. It was a prayer shot but it ended up being an absolute perfect shot. Other than that shot this last years deer was the next longest at 35 yards from the ground. It is the deer in the contest picture from this year.

Shot a goose at 63 yds. and a turkey at 45 yds.

I have been fortunate enough to have close shots on EVERY deer i have killed. I killed 6 last year all 20 yards or less :)

71lb. Bowtech Allegiance I had received on Thursday......sighted in on Friday.......and this was the first shot at any animal with it on Saturday 12/9 morning.

Mine was this year too. It was a 32 yard broadside shot. I hit him perfect and he was down within 60 yards.

I got him with my 65# 05 Allegiance ACC 3-49s tipped with Spitfires.

Doe last year at 55 yards. I ranged her with my laser, then shot. One shot through both lungs, she ran 40 yards and piled up.

Shot her with last year's bow. Switchback, Radial X-Weave arrow, G-5 Tekan III broad head.

Caribou at 60 yards, perfect broadside shot. He went about 10 yards before piling up.

sorry i don't have a pic....43 yard and then about 10 seconds after him (he only went maybe 20 yards) 36 yard shot...hit that one a little far back and he went about 180 yards or so......turkey 34 yards (no blind)....that is all so far

Quite afew years ago on a cow elk. 43 yards..hit her perfect through the lungs, didn't get a full pass through but great penetration. watched her run 50 yards, stop and just tip over. I was hunting whitetails from a tree stand in early archery season, she walked by and I couldn't pass up filling the freezer...

Today even on elk.. 40 yardsis about all I am willing to shoot and thats if I get a broadside shot with the critter standing still!

I took a doe at 47 yards last year - I have take 1/2 dozen deer at 40 plus yards the majority of the time they are less than 20 yards

39 yards on a doe. She went 30 yards and crashed. I now own a nikon range finder and wouldn't twice about taking a good shot at 35. However, I limit myself to 40 because that's what I'm comfortable with. I practice out to 80 yards for fun, but for me bowhunting is a close game. I will probably stay with my 40 yard self imposed limit. Everybody should chose thier own limits within thier own ability. Respect the animal. Respect your equipment. Respect your ability.
