Is it wrong to bait deer?

Is it wrong to bait deer? The owner of the private land that I hunt called me up and wants more deerharvested of the land. He said there eating everything in site. The only idea I came up with was baiting them farther back into the woods away from his yard. Will this work to keep them out or is there something else I can do to stop them without pushing them away alltogether?

Where I hunt it is illegal to bait deer. Therefore it is wrong. There are states that allow it though.

Maybe he could put hair around his yard or put up a fence. The only thing I would see wrong with baiting them is if you live in a CWD zone because it spreads when deer are brought close together through saliva I think. If CWD was a problem then baiting would probably be illegal in your area though and I'm guessing you have checked that out already.

No CWD here in Massachusetts but it is present in both thecaptive and wild deer herds of New York. There is a ban on the importation of anything but boned meat from New York in an attempt keep it out but seeing as the Wildlife biologists don't know how it is being spread soI believe it's only a matter of time.

How about just killing them?

I would go with the plan to harvest more deer ! That would be the best way to keep them out of the yard. Take out the does first, the bucks will get bigger.

LOL! That's exactly what I was thinking! :D

The landowner isn't asking to have them "moved", he wants them removed/killed!

I'd suggest you kill more deer on his property--that's what he wants. If you don't,he'll find someone who will and you're out of a hunting spot
