I think in the original post the question was asked if simply baiting deer away from the house would reduce damage to wanted plants, right?

The answer is, probably not or not much but it depends upon what they're eating in his yard versus what you "feed" them with. And since what I THINK your talking about is more like FEEDING rather than BAITING so the wrong/right question changes a bit. Most likely, the deer will eat BOTH your feed AND his shrubs/plants unless you can completely sate them with your feed, which will take a LOT if there's that many deer in question.

With preferred foods all around and even acorns still under the snow, the deer still came into my front yard and found the one tiny arborvitae shrub we have planted in the middle of the front yard.. and ate half of it in one night. And "my herd" only has about six deer in it![:@]
