Ah yes, the hired PA gun should probably help you seal the deal. He's been at those birds enough times to convince them. Has he learned to call with that Southern drawl or is he going to try and convince one of those Southern Boss Gobblers that Yankee hens can be fun. [8D] You won't have to be worried about calling and can concentrate on the shot. Your next trick is to learn to shoot with an extra 200 pounds in the blind with a camera stuck in your ear saying, "nope, don't shoot yet I don't have him in focus". LOL That little trick right there is good for a couple heart beats extra. LOL Have fun.

After hunting turkeys up close and personnal with the bow out of the blind, I would rather end up with an unfilled tag as to use a shotgun just to fill a tag. It is a rush having them soooo close and have to get drawn without being busted, and then.....make the shot! It's awesome!

Jeff, great story. I really think I like bowhunting turkey more than deer. It is so much fun, whether you connect or not. I've been trying it for the last 4 or 5 years, with limited success. Bagged my one and only 2 years ago and thought is was going to be easy street from then on. Boy, was I wrong. I've shot a few times since but couldn't tap another. But its such a blast anyway. Good luck and I'll be looking for your post and pics.

Nice shooting man!
Turkey fever?? J/k man, them birds are easy to miss. I am a bit surprised from your sports background that the adrenalin seems to envelope you a bit. Use the same stratagy that you would to keep the adrenalinin in check that you used for golf and baseball.

Great story. Some of those DVD's where they proclaim to be telling "The Truth" should show more adventures like yours. I had a similar experience with turkeys last year. So close . . . . so many times . . . . . but never got a shot. I even low crawled up on a flock the last day - through cactus and yucca - only to discover they were all hens. This sure ain't easy - but it sure is fun

shaking like a leaf is the part that drives us as hunters, i love that feeling. Sounds like you had a successful hunt regardless of getting one stuffed in the vest or not. You did the homework and it sounds like you had a great time. Hang in there, ill have my fingers crossed for ya. Good tips on the practicing with the gear on. you just reminded me i have not been shooting with my mask on either. My season is not for another couple weeks so you may have saved me on that one,Thanks!!
