Desire?
#11
I voted, "not even close". My desires and reality are very different. My desire was to go to Arizona and bow hunt a monster elk. I didn't get enough money together to even try to get drawn. That is one example. Another desire is to bowhunt a moose in Alaska. Same "excuse", lack of funding and vacation time. Another desire was to hunt Alberta for monster whitetail. Didn't happen. Reality was I killed three deer on my cheap lease and I am quite pleased with that.

Not even close. The spirit wants to, but the body can't do it any more. Last fall was the first time since I was old enough to need a hunting license that I didn't get one. Being disabled is the pits.[&:]

well this was my first hunting season with a bow. basically my only goal was to get a deer. no matter what it was. i ended up shooting a nice big doe in the late archery season. it was a great season.
the only thing that i think i should have done to be even happier would have been to get out more. i didnt get out all that much, but i hope to get out more this season although i dont really see that happening with school and now that i got a job its going to be even harder to get out.

I got to hunt quite a bit but not nearly as much as I wanted to plus there are alot of other places I would like to try. My dream is to go pro but it seems like everybody wants this now a days some times I get really depressed about it I hate my job pounding nails.

I got to go with not even close. I hunt at least 2 days a week from the middle of october until the middle of febuary. This next year now that I'm bow hunting again it will even be longer. Hell I'm going hog hunting in oklahoma tomorrow. But I still have to work.

After years of being a "good employee", I took three weeks vacation last year for deer hunting. I filled 8 tags. I wish I could have hunted more. I plan to hunt more this year.
For those waiting for retirement, my best friend from high school had quadruple bypass at 44 years old. Another classmate had a heart attack (survived),and yetanotherclassmate dropped dead. Why wait to enjoy life if you are unsure if you will be alive or physically able to enjoy it?

Well....I guess I'm in the minority.....but I agree with what Duke said:
I took 5 whitetails in my first FULL season hunting......including a buck that will make "book" in MY state's Bowhuter's Assoc.
I got WAY more out of this past season than I ever dreamed I would. I'll assess this past season.....and set NEW, personal goals as I mature as a deer hunter.
I am COMPLETELY "at ease" with my '06 season.....though I'm not complacent.
Good luck to all of you in 07.
Being completely honest.. I did exactly what I desired to accomplish last season. Hopefully furthering my own evolution and education as a bow hunter.
My desire has risen however.. and will hopefully continue too as I reach elder ages.

I'd say mostly. I did well here at home and ventured out of state to hunt whitetails for the first time and was successful. It would of been a perfect season if I would have been able to put my wife on a good mature deer, oops wait a minute I did do that, she missed. I guess it would of been perfect if she would have connected. It was as close to being perfect as it could get though. She did arrow her first antlered buck and got her first antlered buck with a muzzleloader. I'm starting to think I should change my answer to yes. Really the only thing that would make it better is if we were able to hunt together a little more. It's hard to do with 4 kids.
