Default Archery Around the World

I just got back from a Geography class and we watched a video on Bhutan. It is located in the foothills of the Himilayas between India and China. The host travelled almost the entire country on foot because they don't allow cars and is one of the most isolated countries in the world.

In one city they visited they were having a festival and archery was one of the main activites. It is the National sport of Bhutan.

They were shooting pretty new target colored Hoyts, looked like possibly something along the lines of an Ultratec. Fingers, no sights and carbon arrows shooting targets at 100M.

I just found it funny that a Country that is so strict on tourism policies and being isolated, how did they come up with these bows? I was expecting a handmade recurve or longbow then they pan over to the shooter and he's drawing back a $700 bow.

That's very interesting, I suppose as archery progressed they did too, you would think they would have sights and releases then!

Yea, they showed the range...You couldn't see the target just the wooden board the target face was painted on, it was pretty much whoever hit the board won. Two people hit it and about 10 arrows were in the dirt by the target.
