Got my Vectrix. Not to happy!(update)

Got my vectrix today from my pro shop dealer and went in thinking that i would get a fast shooting bow and all, soi went in there and he says its over in the back. So i open it up and look at it and say to my self, "now this is a bow!" Now i ordered a 60-70lb bow, i look closer and the limbs say 50-60!!!I immediatly go over and talk to him and told him there was a mistake. He says no, i ordered that one cause i feel that you pull too much cause you are 16 and still growin and you could damage it. Now is that wrong that i told him a 60-70 and he goes and orders a 50-60!?I know that i'm 16(almost 17) but i can pull back quite a bit.I feel comfortable pulling back 65 and all, but still, why would i want a bow that doesn't stand up to my needs. I don't wanna spend almost $700 for a bow that i can pull back like nothing!!I bought it for the speed and the quietness! not for my shoulder![:@]

What do you guys think??

sorry..just needed to vent.

The "pro" shop is wrong on many levels. I wouldn't accept the bow, tell him to order another.

I agree with Rob .... but I would switch dealers

My thoughts exactly.

RE: Got my Vectrix. Not to happy!

If that is what he thinks he should have talked it over with you first.
Then and only then, after you agreed with him should he have orderd the lighter bow for you.

He may be right, I don't know, but he is still wrong to do it on his own and not consult with you about it first.
I would not accept the bow and unless he has a really good reason for doing this I would find a new shop.

RE: Got my Vectrix. Not to happy!

Even if he is right, what he did was wrong. You should get what you paid for and what you ordered. I certainly wouldn't pick it up or pay the balance owed until everything is straightened out. Bummer that it's going to take longer now...

right or wrong choice the shop should give you what you want or take your business else where

Tell him if you wanted HIM to spend YOUR money, you have told him too. Tell him to take that bow and shove it, and find yourself a new shop. If you don't have a different shop, tell him to order the one he AGREED to order. Period.

MOmightymite 04-10-2007 05:44 PM

RE: Got my Vectrix. Not to happy!

It is not his decision to get what he thinks you need. It his job to get the right thing and since he didnt I would go somewhere else. Doesnt sound like your "pro" shop is too professional to me. If you are paying that much money for a bow you better get what you want.

MichaelHunsucker 04-10-2007 06:26 PM

RE: Got my Vectrix. Not to happy!

That really sucks...i agree with what everyone else said. Its not his decision to make. I would definately tell him to order a new one and maybe demand a lower price for the inconvenience...if switching dealers is not an option that is...

I would go to another proshop and spend my $$ elsewhere. Tell him that when he starts paying your bills and buying your bows he can tell you what poundage to buy.

Ditto.

I think he is lying to you anyways........he got stuck with a 60 pounder and he is trying to pass it off on you. I can't imagine someone being so bold as to order something besides what the customer wanted without checking with him first.

Even if he is right.............he is wrong.

Ask him if he went to a dealership, to buy a new pickup truck, and ordered one with a V-8 and went back a few days later to take delivery and the salesman decided to order it with a 6 cylinder, because he thought it would get better milage, if he would accept it.

Go to another proshop and get your bow. This guy took it upon himself to decide for you. It isn't what you wanted so go somewhere else and get it.

I agree with everything you said except this quote. You should pull as much as you can comfortably and if your shoulder hurts it's too much.

With that being said your dealer was wrong. He should never have made that decision for you. It's your money and your bow. What happened to "the customer is always right?"

HoytUltratec 04-10-2007 07:02 PM

RE: Got my Vectrix. Not to happy!

yeah i also just turned 17, i can pull 70# quite easily but only shoot at about 62 cuz i put alot of arrows through my bow daily so i downed it a bit. but id have to agree with the others it was wrong of him to do that, bcuz its not his bow hes not gonna be shooting it. And u know what u can handle more then he would.

He has no right to order what he thinks is best regardless. He would have lost my
buissness for good. [:'(]

RE: Got my Vectrix. Not to happy!

I would tell him to either get you what you ordered or refund your money. Then I would find a new proshop. A 17 yr kid can be quite strong and is still growing quickly sometimes. Get what you want.

RE: Got my Vectrix. Not to happy!

While I agree with most of what has been stated, althoughsome of it is a little 'flavored', there is a point that everyone is missing.

Was there a contract - verbal or written. If there wasa verbal contract, do you have a witness? If there was a written contract, bill of sale/order form in my case, keep it in a safe place.

Have your father or mother go with you to face him with the contractual facts and insist that he uphold the 'terms of the agreement.'The two reasons are that you are underage in most States and you'll need a witness.

Finally, this is a case where you used the term "my pro shop dealer." IMPO this is not the level of business that I would consider a 'pro shop' at all. What you say he did is NOT professional and it belittles a true PRO Shop. This would never have happened in my shop.

Good luck.

Order the exact bow you want, and don't accept it until it is that. There are plenty of other Hoyt dealers out there which will order exactly what you want.

RE: Got my Vectrix. Not to happy!

Tell him to go to..you know where. Demand your down payment back and move on. And I really hope you didn't walk out of there with that bow???? Len is right, you're a minor and have legal rights. Do it within 3 days. Take it back with your parents or an adult and demand satisfaction. My proshop would change you toa 70 if you'd ordered a 60 if you decided that's what you wanted. Of course, my proshop usually has the whole gammit covered in stock. You could shoot the heck out of it before you bought it, but that's just my proshop. The guy is obviously a jerk and he's using you to get rid of the first bow that came in. You should be lucky it wasn't left handed. LOL I don't care if the guy is right, he's dead wrong. However, if my proshop said he was doing me a favor, I'd believe him and know he's right. You need a new proshop.

Totally unacceptable! Return the bow, get your money back, and go to a shop that will at least discuss what is on their mind with you!

Thats a top of the line, high dollar bow, and will last as long as you decide to keep it. Even if 60#was your max now, it leaves you no room to move up next year, or the year after if YOU decide to. Make suer you get what you want, or get your money back! He was wrong.

RE: Got my Vectrix. Not to happy!

i think you'll be happier w/ the bow you got later in life - but you're way too young to talk any sense into, and it should have been tried before you ordered, not after. so, while i agree that is the right bow for you - how it went down, i wouldn't take it unless my coach did it to me - that would be the only person who i'd let get away with that. heck, with these new fangled limb pockets you can back a 70# bow back to 62# for practice w/ no real efficiency loss.

My son (who turned 15 on Monday :)) pulls 64 lbs. with NO problems.

Get what you wanted from THIS "Pro Shop". Make him make it "right".

Its not to much weight, he thinks that i can't pull it back good because when i went to go look at them and order one, i was a bit sore from weight lifting earlier that day so i had a lil stuggle. i could shoot a lota arrows at 65 lbs and not have a sore arm..its just the fact that it makes me mad that he did that! When i get outta school today, me and the ol man are goin back up that and talking to him.

Also, i happend to notice, under the cams, there are spots for bolts to go through....i forget what they are called but the balance the limbs when you adjust the weight. Loosen them, adjust weight, tighten them. i hate brain farts!:D

The man owes you a 70Lb bow. It's not his decission to make...it's yours.
Refuse the bow and go elsewhere. Sorry for the bad luck w/ the shop.

Just like everyone else said, tell him to send it back and get the right one and never give the pro shop business again.

Well, I hope you get it worked out. He never should have made a decision for you. If anything he should have consulted you and then let you make the final decision. That was poor judgement on his part, even if it was in your best interest. Good luck.

He was definately wrong in what he did. But I tend to agree with the poundage thing. If you ever have a shoulder injury it is something that takes forever to get back to normal. You might fell comfortable drawing a 65lb bow back a few times, but be very careful not to over do it. Many experts recommend conditioning yourself for that poundage. Believe me, you don't want an injury to your back or shoulder muscles at your age. You could end up not shooting for a long time.

RE: Got my Vectrix. Not to happy!

Is the shop owner your mom or dad? I would have handed the bow back so fast his head would have spun! Do you have the deposite reciept? If not you might not even have a case. Good luck getting what you want.
