How close to your stand do you put a trail camera? Also, do you leave them out year around?

Depending on the trees in the area, I've sometimes had to connect the camera to the same tree or ladder of the stand. I usually try to place the cam 20 yards away though.

In the past I've been just like you guys - get it as close to my stand as possible because I wanted to know what I was missing when I wasn't around. And while I dont' believe that the flash will scare a deer completely out of my area, I do believe now that it will make them alter their travel patterns, and even if it's just far enough to keep them out of bow range that's too much.

This year I'll be focusing on travel corridors into and out of my spot that are away from my stand. I would say 100+ yards minimum.

i dont usually put my cameras where my stand are just because i know there good spots. I put my cameras in spots where i havent ever hunted or need to know more about the deer movements.

I run my camera from about turkey season to around the end of august. I never run it during the night, flash scares deer. I do not put my deer stands up til the morning of deer season. I carry it in and hide it in a brush top or close by where it can be concealed.

I put them around my stands during the summer but usually pull them a month or so before season.
Don't want any distractions for the deer while I'm hunting.
