RE: MAN WAS SHE FAT!
Sorry if this is a bit off topic, mods. I thought I would try to liven it up a bit in here. Ya'll are way too funny. Hey DaveH, it was a doe and not a buck. She was only a foot or two off the front of my bumper, plenty close enough to see the bald spots had they been there. I think she is the old doe that has been hanging out in a little section of swamp a block from my house. Earlier this summer she had another doe and a fawn with her and later in the fall she had a nice little buck chasing her all over the neighborhood. He was a 6 no bro tines with about a 14 inch spread. As for the last doe I shot, she had at least 3 inches of fat on her rump and still almost an inch up at her shoulders. I thought for sure we were going to have a very bad winter, judging by the amount of fat on the deer this year. If it stays like this for another month, we should have some very healthy fawns this spring. Also the bucks should have a good chance to put on some much needed fat after chasing all the does all fall. Looks like we should see some very healthy bucks with nice racks come Oct. 1st. Can't wait.
