I've got an Idea

Well, I was thinking, i know dangerous right. There seems to be more and more bow turkey hunters every year and the ones that dont have blinds have to hunt off of the ground. WHy dont people use their climbers to turkey hunt out of where possible, i mean people do it in the fall why not now.

Remember that 270degree vision they have? That works for up as well, and turkeys do have predators from above, eagles owls etc. from when they were poults. They'll bust you in a tree drawing a bow for sure! You're better off in a ground blind!

no i have a blind i was just wondering how this would work becausei know my climber would be more comfy than the base of a tree but oh well i will climb that tree when i get there ( no pun intended)

OK, serious question here.... How in the heck could an owl or a hawk kill a grown turkey? Every turkey around here is 3-4 times the size of any hawk I have ever seen. So, if they are only predators to them their first season of existance, would they forget about predators from above? I have had turkeys walking all around me while in a treestand and I have gotten away with putting my bow back on the hanger and sitting down (I had gotten ready when I heard them because I thought it might be a couple of deer coming). I have only turkey hunted a couple of times though, so I don't know how much movement they normally allow you to get away with.

I have certainly considered it but I have given up on the idea. With my pop-up I can be more mobile. I can put it up and take it down a lot faster than trying to move a climber. But then I have actually been practicing moving the blind as fast as I can just in case I have to move in a hurry.

I have hunted turkeys out of my stands several times and have always been succesfull. Dont expect to go into a stand the first year and turkey hunt out of it and expect to bag a bird. Doesnt work that way. It took me a few years to study their behavior and knowing exactly thr right time to draw on a turkey from above. My advice to you as well as make sure someone else is with you. Put them on the ground and have them do the calling. When was the last time you saw turkeys mate in a tree? Also if you plan on hunting turkeys from a stand USE YOUR DECOYS! this will draw attention away from you and more on the fakes.
