Our Turkey population is off the hook right now. Toms are strutting in full force. Nice cool mornings, I fell asleep for a bit over an hour the other morning. There are plenty more left if you boys want to come this way and have some fun.
It's amazing the number of birds in that part of the country, along with Missiouri etc. I couldn't believe all the turkeys I saw when I drove through there a couple years ago. Definitely a target rich enviornment.LOL

Thanks EVERYONE! I'm back to work today and will have the whole story up tonight with a ton of pictures. It was an incredible experience to say the least, the footage was incredible and I took a ton of photos and hope to share with you here as well as a very lengthy HNI journal entry as soon as I get a chance.

Thanks Jeff for relaying the information, I look forward to heading down to NC in a couple weeks.

You're welcome.....and I can't wait to see the pics. Lisa said to make sure you bring your turkey video footage. I'm hoping to entice her to join me on a hunt, this year.....and your footage MAY be just the thing to peak her interest on what CAN go on in the turkey fields.

Roosting them MOST every night. "If" they stay put......and keep on their current pattern.......we'll be SET! If they start meandering..........you're gonna REALLy earn your dinner by proving to be a good caller. I think a couple of clucks'll get 'em to us, otherwise.

I think it has a ton to do with game management. In the 70's here you could look until the cows came home and couldn't find a deer. Now Kansas is one of the premier big buck hunting grounds. Same for turkeys. The population has exploded. Kansas fish and game has done an excellent job. We pay for it though. Combination hunt and fish liscence is just over 30 bucks. Turkey tag 22 smacks, additional tag = another 12.37 bucks for your deer tag. Of course additional tags are extra. The you got your waterfoul permits and dove stamps. You just about have to buy a special tag for everything.

my non resident illinois deer tag is 400 dollars and 50 for the license. I only live 45 mins from illinois and i pay 400 dollars more for a tag what a rip off. missouri non resident tags are only like 175 or something it could be more. and if you dont even get a buck then your really screwed.
