To me rack size doesn't really matter, In my opinion quality hunting is ethical hunting, as long i am in the woods and on stand its all quality from there.

I think the ultimate goal is to harvest a nice buck, with that said you do not get that chance on every hunt. I think the things that you build around the hunt is what makes a successful hunt. The family, friends, food, peace, camp fires, long talks, down to earth conversations away from the daily life that you indure five or six days a week at work an just the experience itself .

A simple point restriction AR doesn't automatically make trophy deer. All it does is allow a 1 1/2 forky to be a 2 1/2 14" 8 pt. A nice buck for sure, but not what is generally considered a "trophy" buck. Now granted a bit of trickle down is going to occur, because like you said they do become harder to kill as they age. It is not trophy management, but it does help get some older bucks in the herd.

In NY, they have controlled the herd by doe permits ... there were years we could get 4 ... that only lasted 1 few years ... lately, if you can pull 2 you are lucky. Heck, when I was a boy, 25 years ago, we had 3 guys to one doe permit!!!

A quality hunting experience for me is one in which I have a realistic opportunity at a better than average buck for the area I am hunting in if I do my part.My part being putting in the time and effort necessary to have that opportunity occur.To hunt my a-- off for weeks and not even see a glimpse at a decent buck is not my idea of a quality experience.It means more than likely that I am in an area that is incapable of affording me that opportunity.

PreacherTony, here in MO, you can buy as many archery doe permits as you want. No limit. :D

I'm curious also what the estimated population in MO. is also, I have an Aunt and Uncle who live in Eldorado Springs and they're want us to visit.
I can kill two birds w/ one....ARROW. HAHAHAHA

Well, in pockets, yes. Suburban St. Louis is all but over run w/ them, southern MO has very few....We do have quite a few deer, but not as many as they say. See my post on page 1 of this thread for the explanation.
