1/8" difference in cutting diameter makes a big difference in the amount of penetration when you are talking about a 4 blade head. My tests have shown that the 1" slick tricks penetrate a good deal better than the larger ones. The Lutz Solingen" blades are the newer improved blades.

You have to take into account the surface area of a 4 blade headcompared tohis current3 blade. A 4 blade has 25% more surface cuttingarea than a 3 blade. This 25% iswith out even adding in the extra 1/8" cutting diameter if he were to gowith the Magnums.

At 27" and 58# (a low energy setup) the Standard's are the better choice.

It's better to havetwo 1" holes (entry, exit)thanjust one 1 1/8" entry hole.
