My 7 year old daughter had a blast today. We've been waiting for a nice day to take her out shed hunting and today was it. Normally Tyler and I put on at least 10 miles eachof walking in an afternoon's time to cover a lot of ground, butwe kept the pace down and she did very well. Roughly 3 - 4 miles. I really enjoyed the relaxing walk andsharing an afternoon of shed hunting with her.
She got to see a lot of deer, Canadain geese, Snows andBlues, Ducks, sharptail grouse, pheasants and meadow voles ( mice ). She had hoped to see a coyote but no luck. We had to snoop around every badger hole we came across. We had to pick up every feather we came across
She had her million questions so we had lots to talk about.
It impressed methat no matter how gruesome/rank ofthe winterkill/( wounded/lost )deer remainsor the one rotted moose calf we came across... she had to go investigate. She definitely isn't squeamish.
While we didn't find as many sheds as " I " had hoped for, she was very happy to find her two.

What a great afternoon! It really isadventures like this that the "other side" doesn't understand, it isn't just about killing an animal. There are a lot of families I know that could use "shed hunting therapy" to bring them closer together. What is that old saying " takeyour kids hunting and you won't be hunting for them later" or something along those lines....The investment of our time in our children is something no amount of money can equal....Well done Tim...
