ORIGINAL: bloodcreek Hello Copper Jeff that is a fine lookin Dog there, she must have really liked the grits. Here is mine. I was throwing chunks of concrete cinder blocks in the water and he was feeling for them with his feet before dunking his head and bringing them back out. He is recovering from a bout with some yotes a couple weeks ago.[:@] Say Hi to Boomer:) ![]()
Those are great pictures! Made my day right there! Reminds me of my dog when she was still a pup and she jumped off the top step of porch and went head first into a snow bank. How old is he? |

Which method (or whose) did you utilize if you trained poacher, yourself? Has he been force-fetched? Just interested. |

I had never read anything on training labs for hunting, I just worked with him every day. I've got a picture around here somewhere of his first retrieve in the living room. Dang toy he brought back was almost as big as him. Just followed the three P's; Patience Praise Persistance |

RE: It's off-season....Let's see your huntin' buddies
I used Wolters' "Water Dog" to train both my labs. The purebred I put down this past Winter had a TOUGH time during force-fetch. The one pictured in the opening thread is a rescue dog.......and she blew through force fetch in no time with VERY little correction needed. I think she understands my words :).She learned to use her nose from her older "sister", though. She never thought she needed it as a pup.
She's a good pet, now....... |
RE: It's off-season....Let's see your huntin' buddies
Don't laugh........he faithfully watches hunting shows and DVD's with me (Comes runningthe second he notices one is on) .........anddoesn't crap on the floor. :DHe's bigger now.
FYI it's a trained PA Mt. Lion....and he'll fluff your eyes out of your head on command;) ![]() |
