BowTech shooters
I want every BowTech shooter's opinion on what is their favorite BowTech bow and why. I have only owned one bow, so I am not as experienced in the type of bows they haveto offer.
I have a BowTech Equalizer because its light-weight, quiet, and fast with my light poundage. |
RE: BowTech shooters
I was shooting a Mathews SB.....and loved it. I shot a friend's Allegiance.....and it had everything the SB had.......only FASTER.
So....I bought one (I also had a home for my SB.....with my son). I shot the other Bowtech models before making my purchase.....and liked the Ally the most (It had more to offer ME). |
RE: BowTech shooters
My 04 Liberty80...because of how smooth/effortlessit is to shoot...even with 80lb limbs..pulls like 70...quiet and plenty fast..

RE: BowTech shooters
Glad to have ya aboard, AnnaMarie!
Jeff (GMMAT) hinted at the correct answer when he emphasized "to me." When I work our Factory Demo booths, I'm often hit with similar questions when people come up for the first time; I hear things like "What's your best bow?" The answer, of course, is "It depends." What are you looking for? Do prefer speed over smoothness? Or vice versa? Does abolutely having the quietest, most shock-free shooting experience imaginable excite you? Or would you like to shoot one pin out to 30 yards? Have you ever had shoulder surgery, or are you concerned with keeping FROM shoulder surgery? Do you want the most stable platform offered (usually translated into longer axle-to-axle lengths), or are you looking for a highly maneuverable treestand-type bow? Does the capability of switching from smooth mods to speed mods and back again all with the same bow intrigue you? Only when you work through your list of criteria of what's important to you will you be able to focus in on one particular model -- and then, I'd obviously suggest shooting several after that. Your Equalizer is in my mind one of the best bows Bowtech makes, especially for shorter-draw, smaller-framed archers. From a pure bowhunting perspective, it's hard to beat -- depending on what's important to you. ;) |
RE: BowTech shooters
I have had a patriot, a black knight 2, a mighty mite and an allegiance. My BK2 was difficult to shoot because of the short brace height and useless to hunt with for the same reason. The allegiance was hard to paper tune; it required a wrist position adjustment, but I do love it. My mighty mite is fuuuunnnn to shoot, but was noisy, untill I put an sts on it. The patriot was over 4 lbs, so I wasn't interested in it... until I shot it. It was the best bow I have ever owned, before or since. Smooth, reliable and deadly quiet. I recently sold it to a local kid with the bowhunting fire in his heart. I wanted to get him off on the right track!

RE: BowTech shooters
well since ive only owned the 05 liberty vft, id have to say that one:D. i really like it because it is very smooth and it is not hard to pull back at all. i have it set at 64# and my buddy has an 03 bowtech (not sure on the model) that is set at 65# and mine is much easier to pull back.

RE: BowTech shooters
I haven't shot a Bowtech yet that is better then my 2003 Patriot.

RE: BowTech shooters
I've had an 03 Patriot, an 04 Patriot Dually, and an 05 Allegiance which I still have. I could not shoot the 03 Patriot to save my life. There are a ton of guys like Atlas that swear by them, but I could not shoot it and developed horrible target panic with that bow. I also do not like the draw force curve of single cams and have since switched back exclusively to dual cam bows. The 04 Patriot was crazy fast with the BK2 cams, but you paid for it in the draw. After the draw it was a nice shooter. The Allegiance has a nice smooth draw, but it is fast so there is a build in the draw curve. So far it is my favorite Bowtech bow and I shoot it very well for my abilities. I can hit a CD with consistency at 70 yards, which is very good for me.
I have tried the 06 and 07 Allegiances and the Guardian. The 06 and 07 Allegiance with the smooth mod is a dream to draw. The 06 was not different enough to drop the money on. The 07 is very nice and I love the new grip, but the lighter riser yields a little more hand shock, which to me is a step backward. The Guardian is a sweet shooter that is dead in the hand and whisper quiet, but the draw is very stiff and feels heavier than what it is. That is no good for me. So, I'm still with my 05 Allegiance until further notice. I hope this helped. |
RE: BowTech shooters
Thats a tough one, I have loved at the BowTech's that I have owned, my 03 MightyMite was short, compact, light, and blazing fast. It was a pleasure to carry in and out of the woods. My 04 Liberty was one of the smoothest drawing bows that I have owned and to me, it was the bow that catapulted BowTech from being a very good bow company straight to the top. It may not have had the speed that the others did but it was just fun to shoot. My 05 Alley was smooth, fast, and very accurate and compact. My 06 Old Glory that I have right now is my favorite BowTech that I have owned. It is very fast while still being a longer/more stable bow. I am shooting more accurately with this bow than any other bow that I have shot.
With that being said, I have also shot the Ex-VFT, Patriot, Patriot Dually, Black Knight II, Justice, Tribute, Pro 40 wheely, Pro 40 Dually, Independance, Mighty Mite VFT, Miranda (my ex-girlfriends)and the Guardian. I may have shot others but I just don't remember. To me, each bow was a pleasure to shoot for its own reasons. I just enjoy shooting bows, I could shoot a oldBear Whitetail Hunter and find something aboutit that I enjoy. I still want to try out the 07 Commander as it is one of the very few BowTechs that I havn't shot over the years and its going to be my deciding factor as to wether or not I get a new bow this year. As it is, my Old Glory is going to sticking with me for another season, which speaks wonders of this bow as I have bought new bows for the past 7 years straight.[8D] |
RE: BowTech shooters
without a doubt I'm loving my tribute more than any other bowtech I've owned. I will say however, that when I had my Liberty, I loved it. The liberty is still without a doubt what I'd want for a back-up, and I've still never once shot anything that drew smoother. I loved that Liberty. I haven't had a chance to shoot the guardian or commander, but I've heard they're unbeleivable. Once I get a chance to shoot them I'll know. My two cents! Oh and by the way the equalizer is an awesome bow for those smaller framed archers....got a couple friends who own them and they absolutely love 'em. So i'd say....Nice Choice!

RE: BowTech shooters
I have a 2000 Black Knight 2 thatwas very hard for me to shoot with the experiance that i had then.My 2006 Allegiance is just as fast as the BK2 and much more pleasurable to shoot and hunt with;).

RE: BowTech shooters
I hadn't shot a Bowtech until the 2006 Old Glory, and I bought it and loved it. Last Friday...I shot a Commander and bought it. I think the Commander is definitely my favorite, and the Guardian/Commander just may be the best bow out there right now.

I don't even know men that have been hunting for 30 years that own that many! But hey, your expertise are appreciated! Thanks to everyone for the feed-back though, I am plannin on keepin the Equalizer for a while, but I'd like to start a little bow collection! |
RE: BowTech shooters
Only Bowtech I have owned is an '05 Patriot and I see no need to shoot another for awhile. Its smooth, easy to tune, and quick enough for me.
AnnaMarie, you probably have the best Bowtech for your draw length. I have a buddy who shoots the Equalizer, is shooting better and enjoying archery more than ever! |

RE: BowTech shooters
I have a 2006 Bowtech Tribute and it is an amazing bow. I shot it back to back against the Allegience for a half an hour when I bought it and I couldn't tell the difference between the two so I went with their flagship bow. I also think the beyond parallel limb design is cool. If I had to shoot only my Tribute the rest of my lifeI would not shed a tear. I have a MeanV2 CSS in matching camo on order for it and can't wait to put it on it.

RE: BowTech shooters
Boy that is a tough one, I have had so many BOWTECH models.....but up to this pint I would have to say the Gaurdian hands down overall.....but I also really enjoy my DIAMOND black ice.....smooth like the gaurdian a little lighter weight but the 70lber I have draws like 60. You will be hard presssed in my opinion to beat the equalizer..it is a sweet bow....like Greg mentioned when we work the BOWETCH booths at shows there are several criteria you need to address in what you want in a bow.....and then you can really narrow it down to a few that fit that particular nedd as to 3D or hunting or Both or super fast is your thing or just quiet and smooth and not speed even though most of the bowtechs are fast in there own regards.....goodluck hope the forum has been helpful.....:)

RE: BowTech shooters
In a word--the Tribute is by far the best I have owned in 22 years of bowhunting. Smoother, quieter, very easy to tune, and fast as greased lightning!
|
RE: BowTech shooters
I'm with Buck Magnet...I've loved all four I own for different reasons. The tribute is tough to beat for hunting. Short, fast, accurate and smooth. Then I got the guardian, which is cool, fast, accurate but a little more difficult to get use to the draw, but i still love it.
Find the one you love for the purpose you're after. I'll hunt with the guardian this year, but the Tribute would have to the best all around bowtech I've owned. At least until next year. |
RE: BowTech shooters
Yeah, and I have Matt/Pa to thank for that, well, him and Frank (PABowhntr). Matt got me on to BowTechs years ago and just reading Franks new "bow reviews" I could see the enjoyment he got from just messing around with new bows and I figured that I had to get into a piece of that action:D Wait till I post my Commander review. ;) As the others have referenced, it really is an individual issue. Different people look for different characteristics in their bows. I have owned many of the Bowtech and Diamond offerings over the years. From a hunting perspective my favorite "all-around" bow would probably be my Diamond Black Ice. Yes, you may say that it isn't even a Bowtech but it is. In essence it is just a Tribute with a single cam design. I would probably also throw in the Tribute in terms of overall design but I never owned one so I do not feel I could comment further. Once I shoot this Commander a bit more I might be more inclined to move it up the list. ;) |
RE: BowTech shooters
My favorite BowTech bow is the Tribute. I like it because it is short & fast.
IMHOThe Tribute isthe perfect ground blind, tree stand, spot & stalk bow. |

RE: BowTech shooters
I'm an Allegiance junkie. :D Each year I shoot all of the new Bowtech models, but I've ended up either keeping my current Alley, or trading up to the that years model, as with the 07. Smooth as silk on the draw and scarey fast.

RE: BowTech shooters
I read your post that you descided to keep your present bow,but I wanted to give my opinion as well. Bowtech's Diamond line is truely worth a good hard look. They are sister's to the Bowtech. They are on the lighter sideweightwise and as a single cam bow they tune VERY easily and have great speed. They draw easier than most single's and don't carry the price of the Bowtech.
They are an excellent quality bow IMO and could very easily stand alone as a front runner bow co. They are worth a check. |

RE: BowTech shooters
I say the guardian. I don't have much experience with these bows but I have enough to say that there all good in there own way. I love everything about my guardian except the curve, I use a 70# but it feels like 75#. This is very minor to me considering how quiet, fast and viberation free this bow is.

RE: BowTech shooters
I have a Tribute and its a great bow. I bought my girlfriend an Equalizer and hers is almost as fast as mine. Great bow for a lady.

RE: BowTech shooters
Thanks for the great feedback everyone! Yall made some good points. I went to the bowshop today to consider my options. It seems my extremely short draw-length (23 in) will keep me limited. I am lovin the Equalizer though so it looks like its gonna be stickin with me solo for a while!

RE: BowTech shooters
Anna,
If I may...I've had bowtechs for a while. I had a 2002 bowtech Sampson 70-80#'s maxed out at 85#'s. I have a 26" draw and for a guy that's pretty short. Even with the 85# bow and shooting 430 grain arrow it was only getting 265 fps. After that I traded the bow to a guy who whated my he-man bow and I got the blackhawk from bowtech. I hated it...@ 70#'s I was only getting 230-235fps. Got rid of that and now own a 2005 Mightymight. It is shooting 395grain arrows at 255fps and for me that is about as good as it is going to get. Remember those of us who have short draw lengths are going to be limited in their bows. If the equalizer made that bow with 70# limbs then I'd be all over it. As for now I do love the mightymite...great tree stand bow...of course I like the MM just a little over my 51# osage longbow that is 67" long.[8D] Anyway...good luck with your bow enjoy the addiction...especially when you kill your first deer with it. RE: BowTech shooters
I throw in another Tribute response. It is everything the others have said that own one. Short, fast, smooth, quite, accurate and great looking. I would buy another one without a doubt.
|
RE: BowTech shooters
i my self just purchased the 06 tribute. And i love it. I tried many other bows before i bought this one. As far as a bow for a female. The people at the archery shop actually said that for a female the equilizer from bowtech is probably the best out there.

RE: BowTech shooters
After shooting the Tribute, Guardian, Hoyt Vectrix, Hoyt Vulcan, Allegiance, a PSE and a few others...I decided on the Tribute.
The Guardian was nice but a little difficult on the draw. I had a hard time deciding between the Vectrix and the Tribut but with the flip of a coin, I knew it had to be the Tribute (seriously, I flipped a coin). Whatever you decide, I am sure you will be satisfied. Happy shooting! |
RE: BowTech shooters
I shot the guardian, commander, adrenalin and vectrix tonight and I was very impressed with thecommander. All I can say is I will have one in the next month.
|
RE: BowTech shooters
With your draw you almost have to go with the Equalizer, which isn't a bad thing at all. Very nice bow that doesn't take a back seat to any bow out there. It's all in how the bow feels and shoots for you. I thought the Guardian was the best thing out there, but now that I have a Commander to go along with it, I'm not so sure which I like better. Depends on where I'm going to be using it. Good luck!
