The ones that seem to vanish pre-season (pics)
Was going thru some of my cam pics and was looking at a buck my son and i named big red, check out the basses on this guy. We watched this buck all summer 2004, 7 pics and around 25 sightings from home. He dissapered in Sept. before the season came in. We hunted him hard with no luck. 2005 same thing but with the crop rotation he was now showing up on the other side of a ditch where the beans were and a heavily traveled Hwy. everyone seen him that year. Again he dissapered in Sept. come 2006, crop rotation on my side of the ditch now and i only seen him one time right at dark entering the field and a friend got a pic of him by his house two miles away. Any one else with a big boy that has eluded you so many times? Just thought i would share the pics because when i had got them i did not know how to post pics back then and thought he deserved a little spotlight. Mods, if you think this needs moved i understand. any one with any tips on hunting the so called ghost bucks of summer?

Looks like he figured out a good time to go on vacation!
He's out there somewhere, maybe he'll make a fatal mistake. He's probably hiding in the nastiest swampiest cover he can find with some food nearby. Doesn't chase does very far either. With a rack like that maybe the ladies come to him!

Yeah Dan, i have definately had this happen. Actually this year I had these two bucks in the same area that i got pleanty of trail camera pictures of in the summer and i even saw the big 12 the evening before the season opened but saw neither during the season.
This is the time of year i like to go look for their sheds and find out where exactly they might be bedding and feeding so i can get on them next year. They can be very tricky though....
