Washington elk hunters out there?
I am from the state of WA. and wondering where a good locationon the western side would be to go elk hunting come this Sept. I have never hunted for elk on this side, does anyone have any suggestions for me?

RE: Washington elk hunters out there?
Hi Irish,
Welcome to HuntingNet! I'm in a similar position because the unit I've put several years into has been ruined by enduro riders and hunters being pushed by rule changes in an ajoining unit.
The WDFW website has a lot of harvest information that can be superimposed over online maps. Since the 2007 regs won't be out until May, take a look at the '06 regs to get an idea about seasons and GMU guidelines. Look for units with high populations, high harvest numbers, and so forth. Plan to put in for draws but don't count on them. Use the maps and sat photos that they have online to pick out some areas to scout.
Good luck!
