I am the tall one on the left side.

doug's the one who doesn't have his hand vertical - creating tension down the forearm on the pinky side - bad matt - bad matt. except - nice boxers bro!
ROFL.......it's not completely vertical and very very relaxed, look at the actual release and you can see the angle it is at better than looking at my hand.I really don't have tension problems in my release arm or hand at all.......my demons lie in my bow arm tension but I am working on that hard with my coach again now. But yes douggie is a muchbetter shooter at known marked distance events, he would school me just about any day. I will get there though someday, trust me......I have only been doing the indoor thing for a little over a year now. I did end up in the same flight w/ Douggie and George Ryals that day..........however I was the first to sit down in the group..........lol.

So any twist that these releases put into your string loop have no consequences?? I just hooked my release onto my loop and twisted it 1/2 turn and it pinched the nock like crazy. I hope we are talking about the same thing (string loop vs release loop).

Thanks for the pic........you guys actually have the release angled more then I thought.

Depends on the shape of the release head, the thickness and pliability (is that a word? [8D]) of the loop material, and the length of the loop tied to the string. I do use a loop tied to the string and hook onto that. I experience no real torque on the string but some releases will especially with a short loop. If they do torque it a bit it is no big deal as long as you have consistent hand placement. You should have tied in nock sets between the loop material and your nock anyhow to prevent any pinching............

I actually have this release which is great by the way, and was just shooting it today before I came into work. It is funny you brought this up because at full draw I was looking at the loop ( held it awy from face for a sec) to see how much it twisted. It doesn't effect the knock at all, atleast on my bow. Once rotated you hook your thumb on the trigger, and just use back tension and it goes off. Got rid of alot of bad habits with this release.

Most everything has been covered nicely by rick.

The one question you asked is how do the heads clear.IMO.It is like a slingshot. When you squeeze off the release, the pressure from the string will throw the head out of the way.The Short & Sweet that you have pictured, actually will recock itself because of the force, atleast it is supposed too.Mine usually will but not always.

Another thing, the thumb triggers are not usually even shot with the thumb, they are shot by putting the trigger in the palmand using back tension to fire them.

Atlas, I'll try to have someone take some close ups this weekend so you can have a better look at what's happening while drawing and at full draw. It takes a little practice to get the feeling of drawing the bow back in a way that the loop will not slip off the release but I've been hunting with my open hook release for 2 years now with no ill effects.
