I haven't heard a thing. Most likely we won't have one, but if we do it will probably be in limited areas. Personally I don't want one here.

At this point the ball has not been rolled,
Its just a rumor to take care of a problem that only
exists because of our local conservation districts
inability to process collected data from 05-06 harvests
in conservation districts, Too this problem is based
on CWD numbers collected from public hunters on private
and public land. So why do they only harvest deer in conservation areas?
point is this Idea was brought up in southern IL
Where CWD is not a viable threat.....All about the benjamins!!!!
It won't happen.....Unless we all get greedy!

It's to flat in most of the state for a rifle season . I Bowhunted your great state 2 times and from what I seen rifles would be a problem. I sure hope they don't pass that LAW. Illinois is a GREAT BOWHUNTING STATE!!!! I hope they keep it that way!!!!!

To be honest, I don't think it would matter one bit if they combine it during the shotgun season. If they open a special season for it, it most likely would be during the bow season so it might take up a week or so, again shouldn't matter.
If you think about it, the slug guns we use today are just about rifle like as you can get. My slug gun shoots 400grain sabot slugs a blistering 1900 fps and I am zeroed in at 100yds. I can pretty much kill from0 to 200 yds without having to hold over or under.
Becides, I would love to break out some of my rifles!Since I moved back to the midwest (years ago) only the smaller calibers get a work out (coyotes and such)
If they do add in a rifle season it will be short and limited so I don't think it would hurt at all.

I think if they have a rifle season during bow season in Illinois they will burn down the citys!! Here in Pa there are parts of the state that are slug gun hunting only. A rifle billit will go a long way compaired to a shotgun slug. Pa is a huge Rifle stateand theres talk of more counties going Shotgun only because of this reason. If you want to do some rifle hunting come on out to Pa I can hook you up.

True, but so is wisconsin.
It would be county by county. And there wouldn't be enough counties
to support raising the non-resident license so there would be little backing to raise the statewide law to be governed by the county law enforcement.
Unless there is an extreme change in government it won't happen.
This state has watched the law change to allow hunting out of trees vs the ground. Legally you were unable to hunt more than five feet off the ground. The issues of rifles started during that time. The issue of riffles has been around long before nowand I don't see any recent justification to turn the hand of time to pro the use of rifles!
