RE: Hey Mid West Guys

Hey Tony, Right now we have about 5" on the ground that has fallen since about 10:00 last night. We are supposed to get a total of 8-10" by tonight. I'm in Central IL. I think places a few miles east of me are getting a little more. Oh yeah winds are blowing about 40 mph as well. It sucks.

PreacherTony 02-13-2007 04:52 AM

RE: Hey Mid West Guys

Chris,

I hope that lake Erie doesn't enhance the snow here ..... I'm gonna look like Schwartenegger shoveling all this snow .. [:-]

Central to Northern Indiana is getting anywhere from 6 to 18 inches

John, we reside along the stream ... so if the storm is dumping 18 inches in the worst part, that's what we will get ...... more if the lake enhances it ...... [:'(]

RE: Hey Mid West Guys

That sucks man... Terre Haute is South enough that we are getting the 6" but also a lot of ice. Good luck shoveling all of that white crap! We of course had no snow during the hunting season which is my favortie weather to hunt in!

Bols 02-13-2007 05:35 AM

RE: Hey Mid West Guys

The farther north you go, the storm is dropping less. We only have a few inches on the ground right now, but the winds are still kicking hard.

The Louisville, Kentucky area is so far dodging the bullet, all we're getting is rain, but there is a huge band of snow above us and a band of ice below that are both headed your way. Sorry. I'm shipping a load to Niagara Falls, ON today, so I've been keeping my eye on it.

Dr Andy 02-13-2007 06:29 AM

RE: Hey Mid West Guys

N IL is going to get a lot less, most will miss us to the south. I-80 should get the most!

We got about 6 inches of snow last night here in Eastern KS.

We just seen the start of it out here in Nebraska. I can tell you that it hasn't snowed that hard here for awhile. It only snowed for a little bit but the flakes were large and comming down like crazy. I think we got 4-5 inches in two hours.

GForce 02-13-2007 07:46 AM

RE: Hey Mid West Guys

We have gotten about 4-6" in town an topof about the same amount that was on the ground before the storm started, NWS has issued a Blizzard Warning for our area. I measured 10" out in the garden area about two hours ago.

They are expecting an additional 12-16" today, with the possibilty of another 4-5" overnight stopping around 7am tomorrow morning. The heavy stuff is just a few hours away at this point.

The plows are running 12 hour shifts around the clock, but within minutes the wind putsthe snow right back on the roads. Winds of 15-20 with gusts to40 has made some bad drifts.

Sure am glad I have a monster snow blower!;) With >2300 sq ft of driveway, shoveling would probably kill me.[8D]

RE: Hey Mid West Guys

I think the worst of it will pass south of us. I'm right on Lake Michigan and all the lake effect snow should be more in the southern counties.

Buellhunter 02-13-2007 09:50 AM

RE: Hey Mid West Guys

not too bad in NE Iowa
Maybe 3" of snow with some wind to blow it around a little
Going to get cold again though.
About 0 again tonight. Brrrrrrrr!

I feel for you guys in NY with 100 feet of snow

here in st. louis we have about 3 and its still snowing pretty hard.

RE: Hey Mid West Guys

In the Buffalo area, we recieved about 60" ..... looks like we are going to get another 18" or so ..... we have already had 8 snow days off from school. Being the Principal, it sounds like a good deal, but most of those days I spent plowing, snowblowing, and shoveling. I have been wanting to get some wabbit hunting in, but there has been no time.....

...I really need to kill something ..... oh look, the neigbors cat!;)

My School here in Kenosha sits on the Lake and we're supposed to be getting a ton of Lake Effect Snow on top of the storm thats already moving through. Last I heard we were supposed to get between 4-8inches.

Man, it is coming down. The weather just said between 7pm and 1am, we are going to get hammered. Already seeing two and three foot drifts

My work closed down, as did all the city and county offices. Level 2 snow advisory here, thetown of New Haven went to Level 3 around noon - get caught driving = ticket.

Driving bans are common here! They need to be able to keep up with the snow. It gets so bad here at times, unless you have a 4x4 , you aint a goin' nowhere!

Steve .... I am ready!! Going to fill the gas tanks for the car and snowblower ... truck is already full

If we get nailed, I wonder where all this snow is gonna go ....

I'm near Bloomington Il. It's the wind that's rough. Nearly 40 mph.

Hard to tell how much snow has fallen as some places are swept bare by the wind, other places have 4'+ foot drifts. There's even a cool snow drift in the mud room by the garage. (door doesn't close real well).

Picture of snow drift in the 'mud' room entry way. That's my bowcase under the snow.

Maybe 3 or 4 inches of snow here in SE Ohio since this morning. Right now its raining and starting to freeze. It's supposed to get pretty cold tonight so it's gonna be interesting tomorrow.

Yeah, the Wells County Sheriff was just on local TV to announcethat if anyones vehicle was stuck or disabled in the snow during a posted snow alert andemergency vehicles or snow control plows needed through, they would not be responsible for damage to yourvehicle if it had to be removed from the right-of-way(plowed off the road). That is a common statute in most Indiana communities.

Hopefully it will melt in the spring, BUT where is all that water going to go?....

My wife was born and raised in Buffalo, the first winter we visited her family after we were married, I drove for over 12 hours to get there then slept for a few only to wake to 11+" and got another 4-6" on top of that.

To have 100+" in the period you guys have endured seems unreal.

We had 50 degree days through December, 40's throughout most of January. Where was the snow during hunting season. Muzzleloader and late archery were not the same!

Steve, it was Central NY that got actually 140" of snow in a week ... we in Western NY, Buffalo area, got a measly 60+" in 4 days ....

As far as melting ... it'll all go down the creeks into lake Erie ....

Sorry Tony, but 60+ in a week? That is still a significant(stagering) amount of snow fall.

I never thought about this before, but...

The thawing snow and ice flows out of Fort Wayne and a number of surrounding areas into the Maumee river basin. From there it makes its way intoLake Erie. Then you fine folk in Buffalo see it as it exits Erie, over the Falls and then on....

Wow, what a small wolrld we live in.[:-]
