you guys, this is the reason that keeps me from shooting acc's or FMJ's. You can dent them. That's the problem. As long as there is aluminum in the core you can dent them. That's what sucks. If there is aluminum in the shaft it can be dented that's the long and short of it. That is the ONLY thing that keeps me from shooting them.
Yeah, but anything that would dent one of these arrows would split a full carbon shaft, in either case you've got a ruined arrow and most times the A/C/C will survive impacts that will destroy a carbon. On top of that, I've never heard of a damaged A/C shaft blowing up when shot.

Dan, Stop pulling your arrows with Vice-grips!

Thats one of the things I like about the FMJ's. A carbon shaft wrapped in alluminum. The carbon, even if damaged, can't explode while wrapped in alluminum.

Shoot, I've never had a target that was easier to remove arrows from! Now the Yellow Jacket broadhead target on the other hand... :eek:I have to turn that thing on its back and stand on top of it to pull my arrows out!

Hate to say it ... and I know it sounds crazy but they look like teeth impressions to me .
Did you at any time have the arrow in your mouth ? ... just asking.

Some of my FMJ also have a dent in them. They still fly ok. I have no idea haw it happen. I do shoot alot so I gess it just happens. I will say they are the best arrows that I ever shot.

sorry, I completely disagree.....This isn't aluminum vs. carbon
I've just had adverse experience with both. Those specific arrows happen to dent fairly easily. I've hadshaftscompress the side walls of the arrow when shot into layered targets at an angle. I believe any sideways pressure on the shaft when entering the target may make similar dents.
I noticed this when shooting out of a stand at a target. I think its like standing on a pop can....It'll hold you until you have sideways pressure.
The sideways pressure comes from the foam layers pushing to the front.
I've only seen it on noticable angles in my target...took me awhile to figure that out!

u say that you pulled the arrow outta the right when you noticed it, but it might of been a shot or two before you noticed...
That very well could be, but would an insert have dented both sides of the arrow?

Yeah, the fact that both sides are dented really narrows it down.
