New Mathews Bow
Anybody have any thoughts/experience with the new Mathews product this year (Drenalin)? I'm giving serious thought to taking the plunge and get one. I like Mathew’s products and have been successful with my current Mathews bow. Now I have to upgrade, (my current Mathews bow is about 10 years old if not more.) I bought it used back in the mid 90's.
Any feedback is appreciated. Especially since I plan on laying down some serious caysh! |
RE: New Mathews Bow
I own the Switchback XT and have recently shot the Drenaline. It is a beautiful bow. You gotta shoot it to believe it. Very light, very fast and very little vibration. I recommend not shooting it unless you are willing to buy it. You will love it that much.
FYI: There is a picture of a broken Drenaline floating around the internet. That bow was broken in a vise and not actually in the field. |
RE: New Mathews Bow
Chaz, I bought one (not in yet), after shooting it against everything but the Ross. I can tell you without apology, that it was the bow for me. Now I went in without a loyalty to a name, as I had never owned one of the "big three" .. Hoyt, Mathews, and Bowtech. I will also tell you, I loved the Guardian and the Vectrix and would have been happy with either of them. I had to make a call , and for me the Drenalin, although I absolutely hate the name, was the most comfortable to me.
My advice to you is if it's a Mathews you want, the Drenalin is an awesome bow ..... but you may like the Bowtech, and if you have had a few, the Hoyt;)(Just kidding Hoyt guys!) But that's just me .... |
RE: New Mathews Bow
My short story, told my lovely, beautiful, and understanding wife that I just wanted to go shoot a few bows. Shot three (XT, Vectrix and Drenalin). Went home and with much suck up bought the Drenalin the next day.
I upgraded from a Q2XL to a Drenalin and couldn't be happier. I shot the XT, Vectrix and the Drenalin, after all was said and done I felt the Drenalin was the bow for me. I am not putting the others down because they were all great bows, but things just clicked with me and the Drenalin. I went in thinkingI wantedthe XT, but wanted to keep all options open. It is such a huge upgrade from my old bow, it feels like--well----nothing because it shoots so smooth. I put the STS system on it and wow. You will be happy with any upgrade you make with the quality bows out now. Good luck, Chris |

Thanks for the feedback guys. Some of it resonates with what the dealer was saying about it and he sounded believable. Of course he is a questionable authority simply by being a Mathew’s dealer hence I am here to get unbiased opinions. I feel I must when considering such a purchase.
I admit I am loyal to Mathews, but I also rest in knowing they make a good product. From what the dealer said, I did feel that if I went in and shot itI would be whipping out my credit card. Funny thing is, I haven't been in the new bow market for quite some time and things have changed a bit.One of my hunting partners is also getting a new bow (20 years with same bow, and frankly; he should have upgraded a long time ago). Anyway, he went to Bass Pro and looked at some of the bows there. I had always thought PSE was putting out models that ranked in the top 3 but I am not seeing that here. Interesting... |

I think the Switchback XT is a better bow. Smoother draw, less hand shock.

RE: New Mathews Bow
I shot the Drenalin and the SBXT side by side and I bought the Drenalin. Both are extremely good bows but for the little bit of extra cash the Drenalin is faster, quieter and lighter. Get one you won't be sorry.
