My wife just decided to learn how to bowhunt, which is awsome. We got her a bow yesterday and i am starting to teach her. Any sugestions on how to teach some one new would be great!!!!

For what its worth I teach about 300-350 kids a year archery in PE class through the NASP program. I have all the literature here on basic skills and a teaching progression. PM me your address I would send you a complete copy of the handbook. Its great for any beginner, young or old.

Rob, thank you and I need to mention... LOCAL sportsman paid for all of my equipment over 3,000 $ worth. There are many good folks out there, something we should focus more on imo.

Cool beans blackmax, sure you'll make a fine teacher. Thats a sweet gig there troy getting funding for archery gear. I am to teach an archery unit in April in my grade 10 class but i am not sure bout what equipment they have there at the school. It is a large school so hopefully the stuff isn't too run down and still in safe usable condition. Goin to take in the mathews to break some hearts owwwww.

On the first day I have all my kids sit in the Gymand we go over every part of the bow. I do a demo with my bow as well. The kids love seeing the old Liberty scream a fewarrows across the gym. Your Mathews even though its not a bowtech..should get their attention!

First of all congrats on wife wanting to join in bowhunting.... you are in for a fun ride
Shed 's offer is a great idea in my opinion. teach her the right way from the beginning and she will have fewer bad habits to overcome later on.
Patience and Practice are 2 of the platforms to build a solid shooter.
Then get her out in the woods as much as possible doing late winter scouting, shed hunting, spot and stalking for fun let her shadow you to learn, photography and shooting 3D to practice proper shot placement.... put her out in treestands and let her kill em with a camera.... let her walk rub lines it kinda helps to put together the big picture and all off these will help her to get to know your hunting land like the back of her hand... let here shadow you on a bowkill and then have her do the blood trailing , teach her to field dress hands on and haveher participate in the dragging out of a deer... if you have other critters in season once she is proficient with the bow get her out and get her to bowhunt the other critters so she has some bow kills under her belt to help to boost her confidence level before deer season comes in.
And I know you both will have a great time.............
