Phase 2 of my basement shop is complete

I just moved a couple weeks ago and finally got around to rebuilding my basement shop here. I just completed phasetwo with one more phase to go. Here is what I have done so far.....

Post your photos as well so I can steal any good ideas you had [8D]

I started with painting the walls with a semi-gloss white paint and building a 10' X 6' work bench framed with 2" X 4"s with 3/4" 7 ply Maple plywood as the bench top. I also attached 1" X 2"s to the back of the bench so nothing can roll off the rearof the benchonto the floor. I'm 27, getting to old to be bending over picking stuff up that fell off the bench :D;)

Next, I attached 1" X 2" furring strips to the block and hung asheet of 4' X 8' peg board on the furring.I decided to lighten the place up a little more over the existing 2 bulb light setupso I added two 4' fluorescent lights above each side of the bench. It's nice and bright down there now.

Here is what it first looks like coming into the that wing of the basement (the basement is shaped like an L).

Here is a close up photo of the peg board. I still have a few things to hang but I need to pick up more hooks first.

This is the arrow building station here. I need to pick up a new arrow saw however. Other than that I have it covered.

This is a little rack I made for my T-handle allen wrenches. I used a 3/8"s wood bit to drill the holes for the wrenches.

This is a photo of my bow scale / chronograph / paper tuner area. I built the paper tuner out of 1/2" plastic pipe and use 30" wide craft paper with it. I drilled a hole through the floor joist to hang my scale from and hung the Morrell Yellow Jacket off of 2 screw hooks. I usethe tripod for the chronograph.

This is the overview of it all as best as I could fit it into the photo.

So, tell me what I have forgot, over looked andneed to add.

Phase 3 will be storage for all of my treestands, decoys and ground blinds.

I would say get yourself a good stool instead of that old chair you've got. Other than that, it looks fantastic!

I'm hoping I'll have enough money left over after I get my car worked on to at least get my basement project started.

I like it Buckeye!!!

Did you mention a bow press? that's about all I would add. makes me think about doing something like that as well. Mine is set up mostly for gunsmithing but with a little addition, I can build a "bow Section" too.

Looks great.

You could have a sale on Saturday and open your own Pro Shop too with all of the stuff you got there. Nice work area though.

Nice. How do you, sit at those chairs and work at the bench? :D

A man's space is a man's space, however you could make it much more comfortable. There's a product that comes in 2'x2' t&g sections made of a wood product that lays on the floor, insulating you from the concrete. Finish it anyway you want. If your feet are comfortable, you will be.Will raise those chairs up a couple inches too.:DThere about 6 bucks a piece. You can just do the spaces you want. Doesn't need to be fasten down.

I like the T handle rack. Clever!

Looks like a real nice setup. Maybe some old or antique archery mags or old archery equipment in a shadow box, archery posters, and some ASAT cloth panels hanging from the ceiliing to the floor to add some depth to the bare walls(wife makes me watch H&G TV[8D])

HCH ... LMBO

Buckeye ... you just got me mapping out my basement!! Yours looks great, the only thing I was wondering, would it be to humid down there causing rust?

The only thing I would add is an old pop machine filled with beer, that way your buddies could pay for your next pieces of equipment.[8D]If anybody else is going to buy pegboard, Carter Lumber now carries it in mossy oak for the same price as any of their other colors.

Nice shop.did I miss it?.Were the Bow Press?
I had an older Apple press but it don't work on the new parrell limb bows. I use the bowmaster to press my bows. It's up there hanging on a hook on the peg board. I won't spend the $600+ for an X-press.

Very nice, simular to my basement setup. Just don't put an arrow through the window[&:]
The paper tuner is only there to be out of the way.... It goes in front of the yellow jacket when it's time to shoot thru it :D

Nice. How do you, sit at those chairs and work at the bench? :D

These are just temporary until I find some realitivly cheap stools. I will not pay $50 per stool! That is crazy.....

About all the decorations...... They will come in time. I threw so much stuff away during the move likeall of my old posters and banners I had. It's weird when I move more goes in the trash or the salvation army than comes with me [8D]

If anyone finds that Tiffany poster, I want one too!!!!

About your peghooks - A tip- Use superglue to glue the back side to the board, thaat way they arent always falling out when you take something off them.

Not sure how big you basment is, but how bout a shooting lane w/ a layer target inside. You know, one of those floor to ceiling jobs that Cabelas have inside.

Scott, if you've got a Sam's club nearby you can find a pair of stools relatively inexensively... I think mine were about $20 apiece... Super comfy and cushy and allow you to spin around pretty easily.

I have a 20 yard range in my basement. It is setup inthe lengthwisepart of my basement. I use the Morrell Super Outdoor Range target butts for it.

Those are some pretty nice looking stools. I'll have to check Sam's for them. Thanks.

I have a dehumidifier running 24/7 down there. It's nice and dry.

Nice work! I am in the very early stages of building mine on. In fact I just put up the peg board last night and started arranging the board with my items. I have some storage with the cabinets so I have my bitzenburger and other items stored away. As far as tree stand storage, you can see I have a 2x10 on the wall. I cut out up top and used L-brackets to affix it to the I-beam and I used a little dab of liquid nails at the bottom.

I am a long way from what you have as I am waiting on the apple bow vise I ordered on Thursday among other items. I am getting ready to start finishing the rest of the basement off so I wanted to get the shop and storage area set up.

Let me know your thoughts on mine so far as well but I don't want to highjack buckeye's thread efforts on his setup as it is definately first class.
