How many put wraps on your hunting arrows?
I do asI like the custom look to the arrow and it provides better adhesion for my vanes. Tricks them out and gives them a custom look. Easier to see in flight for me too and impact on the animal. What about you; you use them, why do you use them and why don't you use them?

RE: How many put wraps on your hunting arrows?
I tried them but they are a pain to remove when you have to re-vane. I don't know, maybe I'll try them again.

RE: How many put wraps on your hunting arrows?
ORIGINAL: Rickmur I tried them but they are a pain to remove when you have to re-vane. I don't know, maybe I'll try them again. When you're wanting to remove/replace a wrap on your arrow, heat the end of the arrow with the wrap up. You can either hold it over a hot burner on your stove or heat it with a hair dryer. They come off very easy this way. ;) |
RE: How many put wraps on your hunting arrows?
I have been using wraps for about 4 years now. I liked the idea of being able to see arrow flight a little better and the chance of being able to see the point of impact a little better, especially in lower light conditions. Most of all though, I just think they really look coooooool!!:D
I have a few different designs I use. I have always used a 2 orange and 1 white vane orientation on my arrows. I used to use the orange/ white fade. Now I have some that are an orange with white ( almost a silver) print of lightning all around it. My new ones, and my favorites, are a half white , half orange flame job. The back half is white with the front half orange flames. It is the type of flames from the great old days when the muscle cars were flamed. They are really cool. Then I have a few very special arrows with wraps that were made and given to me from an HNI member here, PA Hardwoods. A few years ago one of my hunting buddies wife was killed when her car was broadsided by a semi truck. She was 32 years old. I wanted to do something really special for my buddy besides the standard blanket, plaques , statuettes etc that people give. So I got the idea to find someone to make some very special arrow wraps, the buy him a dozen Gold Tips and wrap and fletch them for him. I had remembered that someone on here made wraps, so I started a post asking if anyone knew who it was and what I wanted. PA Hardwoods replied. I told him what I had in mind and asked if he could make some custom wraps. Well, he sure did. He sent me 3 or 4 different designs. Then he sent me a couple dozen of the ones I picked out. He wouldn't take a dime for it. Then he sent me some wraps for me to use. The wraps for my buddy were great. They were white / green fade. On the white part they had a really cool deer head, and then the message "Her name... My Wife... In my heart forever." Man they were cool. When I took them over and gave them to him and his young son and daughter, they were blown away. There were alot of tears that night, but they really made them happy. He said that he didn't know if he could use them or not because they were so nice. I asked that he at least get one deer with one of them. And he did, he got a buck that season with it. It was cool. thast was such a cool thing that PA Hardwoods did. To give of his time and materials to a total stranger for nothing in return. That was really a neat thing. Sorry that I kind of got windy there. Just wanted to share that story about the arrow wraps. So yeah, I use wraps and like them. :DI guess that is all I had to say in the first place. Sorry about that! |

RE: How many put wraps on your hunting arrows?
Pretty cool Greg. I have only played with painting them once on my traditional arrows. I posted pics in your thread.I see where a guy on AT makes custom vinyl wraps and I think that I am going to have him make me some Hardcore Hunting ones. I have been making my own as of now with free scrap vinyl from a signmaker friend. I prefer the vinyl, as they are so easy to strip with a zip strip and re-wrap and fletch. A person with a computer printer that takes vinyl could design anything he wanted; even a traditional look like yours.

RE: How many put wraps on your hunting arrows?
Nice work WH. You have it down. They sure look cooler than plain old arrows.
|
RE: How many put wraps on your hunting arrows?
Here is how I make my own wraps. Free scrap 3M vinyl available at any sign store. I made these for Sarah for last falls bear hunt and one of these killed her bear.

... and exactly why I use a cheap spray can of gloss white from Wal-Mart. No fumes and it's dry in about two minutes. :)

RE: How many put wraps on your hunting arrows?
Those are some bad a$$ arrows! I dont know if im going to wrap or paint this year. They will be blazed. But I will be sporting some cool arrows like those. Nice work.

RE: How many put wraps on your hunting arrows?
I have a total of 12 arrows with wraps on them , six of those have a picture of nice 12 point buck and the other six have a picture of a boss gobbler in full strut.
I like the way they look and itmakes them unique/ diffrent from my friends arrows and I spot them in the field alot easyer. |
RE: How many put wraps on your hunting arrows?
I wrap all of mine in reflective wrap and white feathers.I think this year I am going to try the quick spin speed hunters.

RE: How many put wraps on your hunting arrows?
NOPE, an arrow doesn't have to be pretty in my book. It just has to fly straight. The only pretty I do is bright colors so I can see it go. Flo Glow green is great.:D

RE: How many put wraps on your hunting arrows?
I thought blue was your favorite color;)

You need some wraps with a pic of you in your blue undies, |
RE: How many put wraps on your hunting arrows?
The only color I want on mine is red...from tip to flights..:)
Really though you guys have done a nice job on those arrows. I was thinking about checking some wraps/blazers at the deer and turkey show this year. Are WB hard on the wraps? Are blazers better than the 4 " veinsthrew WB?Sorry for the question, but like the looks of blazers with the wraps and I switch to WB this year. Thinking of going with a drop away for next year. Thanks crutch |

Hardcore!
First of all congrat's to your wife on a great buck and bear season ,they look awsome ,look's like you got some work to keeping up with her . I use wrap's because I can just peel them off and clean the shaft with goo gone and alchohol ,re wrap and re fletch ,i find it make's thing's much easier this way. I also like the wrap's because it give's me a chance to find my arrow's in case of a miss and i see the arrow better after the shot .But I also really like nthe custom wrap's for show .make's them look real awsome . nubo |

RE: How many put wraps on your hunting arrows?
I, STARTED USING THEM LAST YEAR AND LOVE THE LOOK THAT IT GIVES MY ARROWS. AS WE ALL KNOW IT HELPS SHOW FLIGHT OF THE ARROW AND MAKES IT EASIER TO FIND. ONE REAL NEAT THING IS ON A PASS THROUGH IT SHOWS THE BUBBLES IN THE BLOOD WELL. I CUSTOM MAKE MY OWN AND SELL SOME TO MY FRIENDS. 1 DOZEN CUT ANY LENGTH AND HAVE MOST SOLD COLORS $ 8.00 PER DOZEN. THESE ALSO WORK GREAT ON THE ENDS OF FISHING POLES.
GOOD HUNTING. |

RE: How many put wraps on your hunting arrows?
I wrap mine for now...I'm beginning the process of learning how to dip and crest though. That'll be the end of the wraps.

RE: How many put wraps on your hunting arrows?
I started from the get-go using wraps on my hunting arrows. I use refective white.....and to be honest....the reason I use it...is so it's easy to locate the arrow in an evening situation (shoot at low light). When I shot my 9/30 buck.....I climbed down....took an arrow from my quiver.....stuck it at the base of the tree.......went to where I'd shot the buck.....stuck another arrow in the ground and went home. When I returned....it was dark....and my wife and I could shine a light and get our bearings on where the shot came from....where the deer was standing.....and begin our trail (The buck had left my set with my arrow sticking out of his side a little bit). When I found blood....we got the arrow from the tree I'd shot the deer from.....and stuck it in the ground. Now....we had a line of reference. When we found the broken arrow the deer had dislodged.....we stuck it in the ground. Now we had a GREAT reference (the fletching ends GLOW when a light is shined on them). It aided in tracking a LOT.
I've heard people tout being able to see the impact point better. I shot 5 deer with them, this year.....and I really discount this theory. The only way i think this works is if you don't get a pass-thru.....it would be easier to see a more multi-colored fletching/wrap. If you're seeing your fletchings/wraps in flight.....something's wrong! |
RE: How many put wraps on your hunting arrows?
I just started doing a few. I went with the Blazer black & white zebra pattern with white blazer vanes. I must admit, they turned out pretty good for my first !
