Elite Archery?
What do you guys know about these bows?

Unfortunate story here. We were an Elite dealer last year, and those are just some awesome bows! The problem, however, is apparently the owners aren't very business minded. I've been hearing all kinds of rumors.....I've heard they were sold to Escalade Sports, makers of Bear Archery, I've heard they have closed the doors.....lots of rumors. But I can say this for sure....
We have been trying to get in contact with them for 2 months. They won't answer a phone, return a phone call, email.....NOTHING! Our rep told us that the repping company he works for has dropped them citing they haven't been paid in about 6 months.... They are dead ducks in the water from what we can gather. Too bad, though. |

I found an 06 Synergy over on AT for $500 I was thinking of maybe finding a way to pick up, but if the company is folding or is close to folding I'll hold off on considering it. |

I would. I can almost guarantee you won't get parts if something were to break. A buddy of mine bought an Energy last fall. It's an awesome bow, no doubt....He really likes it. Fast and oh my god quiet...but he's scared to death now about anything breaking on it. Lifetime warranty's don't mean squat if the company goes under. [&o]
Oh, I can also tell you they WEREN'T at the ATA show....hmmmmmm |

Guys Elite is still alive and doing well. They have been going through some growing pains as to be expected with a new company and they recently moved to a larger facility, so that probably explains the inability to contact them.
Wash, the Synergy is an awesome bow. I recently shot one that was 29.5", 49" shooting a 340 grain arrow and it was clocking 284fps. And the draw was OMG butter smooth and exteremely shock free. If there was any bow that would make me switch from Bowtech it would be this one. |

I'll wait around a bit and see what happens. Maybe later this summer I'll see if I can find an 06' to pick up as a back up bow. |

Mike, I agree 110% on the performance of these bows.....But I gotta tell ya, it ain't that I don't believe you.....But I don't believe it.....They've burned so many bridges with us, it's gonna take a good solid year for us to even THINK about going back to them. I've heard so much crap from them in the last 6 months that I just don't believe a word they say anymore....Sadly.

Here is the short and sweet story The Chief Bowtech Designer and one of the Founders Kevin Strother was excused from Bowtech over a year ago. He married the martin girl, she opened Elite Archery and hired the unemployed Kevin(her husband). Bowtech sued Elite for copy design of their bows(all that Kevin had desgined) Suit was settled and is posted here somewhere on what elite can and can not do. There it is, LOL |

That was how I heard the story.
My pro shop had one in stock, and it seems to be a good bow. I shot it and it is very smooth and queit. Does remind me of a Bowtech, so thats when I started believing the story. Hope they come out with some more, and add new toys.... |

Germ told the very PC version of the story. What was left out was that Kevin accused Bowtech of firing him for marrying the Martin girl (Martin couldn't fire her being that she's family). Bowtech contended that the dismissal had to do with conflicts of interest, which seems to be the case because shortly after Kevin is dismissed a new bow company sprouts out of nowhere with a striking resemblence to the bows Kevin was making at Bowtech. Also, Elite had no designer on staff until Kevin was hired (from what I have heard at AT). To make matters worse Kevin has on more than one occasion started rumors about Bowtech regarding their manufacturing practices and service that is contrary to what most have experienced. He also made an insinuation that the cam on the Guardian and Commander looks "similar" to his K8 cam. Some technical issues have come up with Elite too, such as cam design issues where they were cutting into the string and the solution was, well, let's just say it involved a Dremel.
Bottom line, I could never own an Elite bow because they don't make left-handed bows, but even if I could I wouldn't because I don't feel comfortable in the way business is handled. That is not a holier-than-thou statement, but one that I would be afraid of putting my money into a product and wondering if I'd be left out in the cold. If they treat those that are to sell their products and make them money as Mobo indicated I can only imagine what would happen if I had a problem. Just my 2 cents. |

Well it sounds as if Elite was been founded on some very rocky ground. I don't think I'll be purchasing one of their bows.
Just like Mathews, if I dislike a company [for whatever reason] I can't bring myself to purchase their product. |

My issue is really a non-issue anymore, just me holding a ridiculous grudge.
When I was first getting into compound archery, Mathews ads were blowing up in magazines. This was back when the Mathews/Hoyt comparisons were so strong. I disliked the fact that Mathews was spending more time proving why Hoyt was a bad choice than they were showing why their bows were better. Seemed like a poor way to get their product to the public, IMO. |

I'm not saying Mathews makes an inferior product, I'm just saying that I dislike the way the company went about advertising it. Granted, I give people crap for shooting Mathews, but I give people crap regardless of what they shoot, everyone knows that. |

Now that you mention it, that would explain why the Hoyt guys on this sight bash Mathews all the time. They are probably bitter still. Most Bowtech guys seem to be the gentlemen ... Most Mathews guys seem to just not say much about what they shoot, knowing that the Hoyt army will attack .... just my thoughts ...;) |

Tony asked why I disliked Mathews and I told him. I'm not going to get into an argument with you because you feel Mathews is a superior product. If you can't accept the fact that I dislike Mathews for the reason I stated then too bad, but I'm not turning another thread into an argument. |
