I just think that the carbon clothing manufacturers should put an end to all of these threads on all of these hunting forums by hiring three of the most respected carbon scientists in the industry and then publishing their reports. This way, there are three reports from the finest, most knowledgeable experts in the industry. If their product is that good, this should not be a problem to do and the clothes manufacturers would make billions compared to the millions they are making now. We would have another topic to discuss too.You all know, that this isn't the only site where the majority feel like we do on the subject. I read a lot of forums and this view that we have is in the majority by far.

this is one battle i have faught on many of posts.....so instead of fighting i am going to ask everyone who "claims" that it does not work to think about this:

Can you honestly tell me, or anyone else for that matter, that a Hoyt or PSE or whatever shots better then any other bow on the market todayif you have never shot it?

i agree that they are not cheap suits (unless you find one on ebay cheap) but the fact still remains if YOU cannot prove it doesn't work then i don't feel it is right for you to post a response saying " it doesn't work" when a person comes on here and asks other hunters advice. You would tell that same guy to go and shot the bows and see what works best for him! so why not tell him that same guyyou think they are expensive and you fell they don't work but to try it out for yourself, but to come on here and say they DON'T WORK really bothers me whenNO one has proof! and yes i don't have 100% proof that it does work, but if you would like i can explain it to you on a scientific level as to why i fell i does work, just shot me an email and we can discuss it like adults

if you do have proof that scent lok or scent blocker does not work i would like to see it down to the scientific level..

i am not telling you guys what to do, but just to consider what you are telling an average joe coming on to this site to get information from his fellow hunters..

We all know that bow hunting for whitetail is a game of odds. It is a passion, for many of us, of mere chance encounters and opportunities. You can fool yourself as much as you would like, but deer hunting is a game of odds.

If I was with a cane pole fishing a 10 acre pond for a 5 lbs. largemouth where only one 5 lbs. largemouth lived, my odds would be slim to catch it. But, if I was fishing the same pond with the latest rod and reel.. newest fishing lures.. a fish finder.. map of lakes depth.. and a boat.. my odds would greatly increase for catching that same 5 lbs. bass. I just increased my odds!

So for me, using the No-Scent products, can only increase my odds on killing a whitetail that I am after. I still hunt the wind.. but in the deer woods anything can and has happened to me. Bucks and does will go down wind of you someday, that is inevitable. So if using the scent eliminating camo controls just the smallest of human scent giving me just a minimal advantage and increasing my odds I am going to use it. Just as some of you are with your camo patterns, I am with my scent control.

I take my deer hunting extremely seriously and want the best of odds each time I visit my stands. If my odds of taking a deer go from 250-1 to 249-1.. while using some sort of scent elimination.. I will take those odds. I want to know on each sit that my odds are as good as I can get them today. They are the best odds that I could gather. So I will use every trick in the book to increase them.. even slightly!

I know that there are many great hunters on this forum. I will not give names. But I know each one of you know that you got to where you are by increasing your own odds on taking whitetail. Whether that was through great land you now hunt, great camo pattern you now wear, better positioning of your stands, better tactics and strategy etc. etc etc. To believe that you cannot increase your odds with a better scent elimination, is simply not realizing your own potential as a deer hunter.

Bottom line... deer hunting is all about odds-period. I will continue to use the scent elimination products.

I'm shedding a tear, Duke. That was beautiful.

Then comes the next question......."How much is upping your odds worth, to you"? That's all subjective....but if you're not the person footing the bill.....WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?

Great post, Duke.

Try this test and make your own decision on Scent Lok clothing. Open up a bottle of perfume. Get some Scent Lok that has been activated correctlyand place it over the top of the perfume and seal it off with a rubber band. Then see if you can smell it through the Scent Lok.

Ok camo is camo and I dont care if your scent blocker is in Realtree, Mossy Oak, Preditor, ASAT it is all camo. Agreed, Agreed! I am saying that the carbon inside it does absolutely zero for scent elimination. It is all used up before you get a chance to wear it. So as far as killing a animial while wearing, yes it will happen but it isnt cause of the carbon! I shot 3 without carbon clothing and the ol' lady got 1 what does this mean? Yall prove to me that Carbon clothing that I can buy at a retailer will work beyond a shadow of doubt. To the point where I dont have to worry about scouting. On the day of the hunt I dont have to worry about the wind. Ill eat crow and buy a complete set tomorow! Prove me wrong, till then I am going to talk against the over rated over priced garbage! IMO and most others!

TeeJay.....honestly...

You're accusation is that people who wear scentblocker type clothing don't scout....play the wind...etc.... That logic (or lack thereof) is flawed. It's just one more tool in the arsenal. You're not paying for it....and have stated you won't. So....what difference does it make what we pay for it or whether we think it works, or not?

Do you just FEEL better telling us we're duped? Honestly???

I hear one word repeated over and over and over again in the "anti" posts.............PRICE. I think we all know the truth, here.

I could also ask.....If you'd never hunted WITHOUT it.....and you had been successful WITH it.......would you be so quick to dismiss it as "hype"? Would you stop using it based on some internet ........hunters' claims?

Been using both major brands for over 10 years now and swear by it. I very seldom get busted even when the wind blows right at the game. There is no way to be completely scent free but we can do many things to minimize it. That being said, carbon clothes are just ONE part of keeping scent free or almost scent free.
You still gotta be clean, use the wind, use scent sheild or another spray especially on your boots, you gotta avoid sweating up as much as possible, and you have to stay away from anything that could taint your clothing like food, smoke or car exhaust.

Carbon clothing is a part of the puzzle, not the whole picture.

I keep my hunting clothes in air tight bags stored with scent wafers.
I keep my boots stored outside and away from pets and household smells.
I was in sportwash and dry my clothes with scented sheets (Earth).
I dress my outer garments in the woods when I get there.
I spray down EVERY TIME before entering the woods with e3.
I shower EVERY TIME I hunt in scent free shampoo and soap.
I store my BOW in scent wafers.
I spray my bow, arrows and release in e3.
I keep my stands stored away from household smells and spray the climbers down before going into the woods.
I try to play the wind as best I can.
I wear scent blocker garments.
I scout.
I supplemental feed.
I keep trail cams up to inventory and learn deer's patterns.
etc...
etc...
etc...

Just ONE item on a LONG list.
