Default Ground Growth??

Just curious as to how many times you've shot a buck and found it to be bigger than you thought when you shot it?

Honestly when I shot the buck I did this season, I didn't think he was as big as he was. once I got down and really got to look him over is when he really looked impressive.

I've had 2 that kept growing the closer I got. One was a 240 lb. field dressed monster( weighed on a scale), that grossed 160 in. The other one grossed 165 in. Those antlers just kept getting bigger and bigger.

It has happend to me twice. One buck I didn't get a great look at before I shot it, and it turned out to be a very wide 8 point. The other one I knew was big, but not as big as it was. It was just under 150".

I shot what I thought was a nice 8 pt and when I found him half his rack was stuck in the goldenrod........the exposed side was a perfect 5 points so I thought he was a 10.......when I yanked his head up I saw his other side went a little goofy and had 8 points of it's own. He grew twice

It's happened to me as well. The buck I shot this year came so fast that I didn't get a look at his rack, but I instantly knew he was a good one. What a great suprise it is when you first put your hands on him.
