RE: delayed gratification

I have no problem with sombody shooting a small buck if it is there first/seconed/third deer. Much after that, it should only be mature bucks.

Hey double creek, I live in the midwest and where I hunt in Northern Wisconsin and the woods up there are HUGE. I don't think you understand how BIG the woods are in Michigan and Wisconsin and Minnisota. It's not all farm land. Do some research before you start making comments like that. The area I hunt is thousand and thousands of acres of woods. You can walk for 60 miles without seeing a road, house or another person up here.

Don't criticize people for harvesting any legal deer that brings them satisfaction!! My son (7 years old) got his first deer this year and it was a 6 pt that might be 50". He was probably more happy with his deer (so was I) than you would have been with a 150" deer. Go out, have fun, hunt legal, and be proud of what you shoot!!!

Truely I am happy for your son!
Good job on getting him a buck! really i mean it.

Who cares. Shoot what you want and don't tell others what to shoot! Hows that. :D

Most people who complain about people shooting small bucks are mad because they do not know how to find larger bucks and they think it would be easier if everyone let the little ones go.

I should have clarified, the mid west farm land country..... I wouldn't call Michigan the the mid west, more like the north for this southern boy....

why do we talk aboutNOT shooting small bucks, How do you justify small bucks...I don't care if your ten years old, why?
Anyone disagree? Shooting small bucks is not an ego thing. It doesn't matter how big they are as long as they're mature. Theres no reason to shoot a buck under 100" no matter where your from! leave the small ones Its called Hunting, not shooting the first thing that comes along![*]To pursue (game) for food or sport.[*]To search through (an area) for prey: hunted the ridges.[*]To make use of (hounds, for example) in pursuing game.[*]To pursue intensively so as to capture or kill: hunted down the escaped convict.[*]To seek out; search for.[*]To drive out forcibly, especially by harassing; chase away: hunted the newcomers out of town.

Mr. Soldier.....
"All i was asking was why?"

i can tell you why i shoot something less than 100" (which is a forked horn my standards or a four pointer or less in your standards) i hunt CA for blacktails....100% public and 100% tough.....i have hunted very hard for the past 4 years ( i am 22 now) and have seen 3 legal deer to shoot (putting in about 12 solid days of pre-scouting and then about 30 days of hunting each year for the past four years) PLEASE don't go and tell me i don't know how to scout properly or am obviously doing something wrong....this is the west and deer act way different then whitetails and on top of all of this you have 20-30 vehicles out road hunting competing with you (i don't road hunt i still hunt or spot and stalk).....i drive 3 hours one way to where i hunt (this is not the closest place to hunt from where i live, the closest is a 1.5 hour drive but has 2x or 3x more hunters) so as you can see i put in lots and lots of money, time and effort into deer hunting....i love deer meat..period....the first legal animal i see i shoot....all 3 of those deer i killed and two of them would not make the 100", after i shot one then the rest of the season i try and hunt mature deer....but as you can see total deer i have seen during legal days to hunt is not that great....the area i hunt holds very mature deer, i have seen them scouting and also on trail cam pics...however, when the season opens and you get other guys out there running around it is not the same....

this iswhy i shoot 100" or less.......:D

What is your'e problem, man? This guy is stating his opinion. If you want to argue it, then do so, but don't act like an immature middle schooler at the lunch table.
