SNAKES! I always like to hang my stands over a limb or knot on the tree to keep it from sliding. One time I had one hung over a knot with a hole in it and when I was sitting in it a 4 foot black snake came out of the hole and headed up the tree beside me.

well i had this happen with a gun and my bow. It scared me to death but they where still one. But i have a bigger fear of hights but still ride rollercoasters and get in treestands. I dont get it , i guess i have a bigger fell of the fall to the ground.

ORIGINAL: crutch Ducsauce, That happened to me this year. Went to shawnee for first time. Climbed up in tree before dat light. Pulled my bow up and was getting ready to grab it, off it came. It crashed to the ground. I had to work the climber back down (1st time using a climber) the tree. Reattached bow, climbed back up to about 10ft. I was drinched from sweat and[:@]. So that where I stayed. After cooling down I checked bow(with small light) looked ok. Drew it back very slowly, looking away of course, seemed ok. Ended up taking a Doe at 22 yrds about hour and a half later. So now I double check the pull rope. The only thing that I fear is that I may have forgot to put my phone on silence. I was married to the wicked witch of the North once; I fear nothing.I still hate myself for that one. ***Looks like we got alot of scaredy cats in here.:D;) |

The last scary thing I ran into while deer hunting was this
 But the most terrifiying thing is haveing this show up under your stand opening day of season at 8am telling you the kids sick and she want you to got to the doctor with her  |

Wow! I couldn't imagine seeing one of those suckers in the woods. All we have to worry about in VA are bobcats and even then, I don't worry.
Did you make your wife get on the other end of that pole to help you carry out the beast? How much did it weigh? |

#2 (not the same #2 as referenced above) Having my tree give way in heavy winds and not being able to jump at the right time because of my harness #3 Havinga dead tree fall on me due to wind #4 The crazy lady on the property next to where I hunt deciding that she doesn't like my truck where it is and doing something about it |

I guess the only thing would be having one of the "local meth-head poachers" that live next to my lease come waltzing past my stand with a gun and think I'm a squirrel.It would suck trying to dodge bullets with my harness on. |

duc .... I live in western NY and I hear the same thing about them being here. Supposedly the DEC released them to help control the deer herds ... I doubt it, but ya never know ...... :eek:

ORIGINAL: Cougar Mag Great Horned Owls. I don't like the things at all and had to quit wearing a genuine rabbit fur hat because one swooped to close to me while on stand. |

And also, the tree steps scare me too now. I've read about people slipping and disemboweling themselves on the way down....

I have feared my string breaking and my bow falling to the ground. That could be an expensive mistake. Other than that, not too much. It is like as soon as I'm up there, I'm in a completely different world.
