What's the strangest thing you've seen while bowhunting?
 

As for me it was a really icky strange flourescent orange spider. I have looked it up and still can't find out what kind of spider it is. I hate spiders it really icked me out.

A few years ago, we had an albino doe on the farm. Only saw her one season. None of the neighbors would admit to killing her........but she didn't last long.

When a guy poched a turky, right in the field that I was looking over. The person must of been able to see my truck parked. Yes I did call the DNR and, thay knew of the people that it could of been. But I never hured what happend to the person or even if thay found him.

I alwayse get freeked out when a squirrel walks by and sees you in a tree,then climbs up the tree to see what i am,gets within inches of me,and then goes away.WHATS UP WITH THAT?

Other people walking around and having no idea you are there. Taking a leak without a clue they are being watched. Makes me look around when I take a walk in the woods!!:D

When a guy walked under my stand oblivious i was there carrying a rifle in bow season a hatchet and a bag of water softenor salt, can you believe that, water softner salt of all things.He buried half the salt 15 yards behind me[:@] after digging a hole with the hatchet and then went deeper into the woods out of site. I slipped out, called Mr. warden, he met him at his truck after dark, marched him back into the woods made him dig the salt back up and put it in the bag he littered in the woods and fined him. I arrowed a nice 9-point there 3 days latter. when i tracked it and found it i noticed a camp stool and a ground built brush blind where the guy was going to hunt so i dressed the buck and layed the privates in the camp stool[8D],,, my bad. what an idiot!!!

I saw a spike hump a fallen tree. It was pretty bizarre! just a couple "pumps"....practice makes perfect

I was hunting and had a tree pretty close to me fall and come crashing through the woods. Not close enough for me to be in danger, but it was really loud. Kinda looked like jurassic park where the trees start moving then the t-rex appeared.

I watched a bobcat chase a squirrel up a tree......only to watch that same bobcat FALL OUT of that same tree......that was hysterical!

I had a pie bald spike buck come right under my tree during the rut. I was really thinking about taking the shot but better judgement set in b/c it too dark to clearly see my pins.

The night before that, I had just started a rattling sequence and I hear a squirrel going nuts. Then I see/hear a bunch of rustling in the leaves about 40ft. off the ground and next thing I know, the squirrel is falling straight down. Hits the ground, sits there a few seconds then climbs right back up the tree.......I couldn't quit laughing the rest of the hunt!

I was sitting in a makeshift grond blind up north one day being real still and quiet to the point I started dozing off when I flet something nawing at my boots.
I woke up to look down at my toe's and saw a baby porcupine chewing on my boot , it startled me so bad that my first reaction was to kick and boy did I ever.
That little rodent went hurling like a football going over the goal post.

I watched a ferret or martin or something like that chase a brown mouse all over the place one morning. They both went up a tree about 20 feet from me and ran around like they do on cartoons. The mouse ran to the top of the tree and then down into it (it was dead and broken off about 30 feet up) and the ferret-thing (about 3 feet behind) followed. The mouse came out about 5 or 6 feet down and rann straight up and off the top of the tree! He looked like he had a bottle rocket on his back! He shot off that tree and landed in another about 4 or 5 feet away. When that ferret-thing stuck his head out the side he just looked around not know ing which way the mouse went. It was the funniest sight I can remember.

Also watched a falcon chase a dove around the tree-tops one morning for about 10 minutes. That was absolutely amazing. I never seen or heard either one hit a branch, but they were both going as fast as I've ever seen birds fly, dippin and dodgin and weavin. Just incredible.

Atwenty-something couple going for it on a blanket about 50 yards from my tree. I let them finish up and then whistled and made a clapping motion with my hands. Never seen two people hi-tail it out of an area so quickly!!!

This past season I saw a nice 6 point buck make a rub 50 yards from me and then leave, then not even 20 minutes later a button buck came right to that group of trees and started rubbing them like he had a full set of antlers, thinking he was a big buck. It gave me a good laugh especially after that nice 6pt didn't want to come to my calls and just casually walked off.

I was out squirell hunting with my dad and a good buddie of ours. We settled under a big Hickory at lunch. Well we all dozed off and when Eddy woke, there were three deer standing less than 5 ft away. The funniest thing i ever seen was when i was in New Mexico. I was stationed at Kirtland AFB. A bunch of us took an electronic call out to see what we could see. Well, we stuck the speaker out the window and cranked her up. In about ten minutes this young Bobcat comes flying out of the brush and sailed through the window. Three grone men gave one 10lb cat a new Chevy.

I saw 2 escaped convicts running past my treestand. A few minutes later there were law enforcement vehicles all over the place and a helicopter flying overhead [8D]. Must have been hundreds of cops rumbling through the woods. I got down (figuring there was a good chance my hunt was ruined that day [8D]) and told them I saw them and pointed out where they headed. Not sure anything will top that day.

I was sitting in my tree stand early that morning, when I heard something that sounds like a baby crying. I retreived my flashlight out of my bag. Started looking around to find where the noise was coming from. Low and behold I looked to my right, on a tree limb right next to me and there was this Bobcat ( I think). need less to say It scared the living S### out of me. If ya'll could picture a #230 grown man trying to get away from this creature, by any means possible. I came out of this ok, with only couple scapes. Not from the cat but from the tree, coming down likea bull in a china cabinet. Needless to say i was done hunting that day.

I’ve seen a few things that I think are cool/scary.


Saw a Hawk kill and eat a squirrel.
Saw a red fox jump at a turkey, but not get him.
Saw deer mating.
Had small birds land on me and my equipment more than once.
(Scary one) After dusk I got down and started back, when I heard what sounded like a six-year-old girl getting murdered in the woods, screaming like crazy and running through the woods in a circle around me at like 30 mph. Apparently it was a fox. I would have paid $5000 for a cheap shotgun at that point.[/ol]

That is why, when I am going for a "walk" with a lady, I stay away from primo hunting areas.

I saw a crippled doe (who was obviously the matriarch) have a sparring match with a decent 6 point during the rut. Even though she was missing the use of a rear leg, she initiated the "match" and seemed to get the better of him!

I also watched a red fox catch a mouse and the REPEATEDLY turn him loose and give the mouse time to turn away WHILE THE FOX TURNED HIS BACK! He caught and released the mouse about half a dozen times or so and then left without hurting the mouse. I watched a very wet and very pi$$ed off mouse run back into the woods

Turned my head just in time to see a big horned owl backflapping to stop from landing on my head. Also watched a pair of hound dogs drown a racoon.

I have also turned just in time to see aowl trying to back pedal.Must have thought I was breakfast. Funniest though was a fox squirrel who fell probably 20 feet out of a tree. After he landed, he sort of looked around as if to see if anybody saw him, then he very slowlywalked away.Laughed quite awhile over that one.

Me and my uncle were walking through some hay fields years ago looking for sheds. The last field was a bean field surrounded by stone row and woods with a path wide enough for farm equipment to get through it. We were at the top edge of the hay field when we noticed a black cat come through the path followed by a doe with her nose to the ground and a 6-Pointer with his nose to the ground following the cats path!!!
Also had a 9-point that I shot at and missed that turned and ran 20 yards from where he had come from and stop to make a scrape and he urinated in it! After he was done he came back down the same path and I did not miss him again!!

Back in the early 80's, I was Bear hunting a place called Sagola swamp, in Michigans Upper Peninsula. After playing RISK, and Drinking all night, I managed to get in my stand the next afternoon, half asleep, and half hung over, when I seen what I belived to be a Sasquastch, or a Bearwoke up untill a couple of day ago. But after YooperMike posted that he was 6'10" and that a size 2XL shirt looked like a Belly Dancers top on him, I now realize it could have just been Him!!!

Had a little red tree rat barkin' his head off at me, and he retreated throught the V of a two trunked tree, just as a hawk was swooping down on him. The squirrel made it through and the hawk perched at about my eye level about 10 yards from me. I'm watching this hawk watching this squirrel, and a flock of blue jays came in screetching at the hawk and ran it off.

id have to say two bobcats come tearing across the hillside the same morning i saw two turks, a coyote, and a nice 8 point basket rack. didnt get a shot at any of them[:@][:@][:@].
