Help Me Decide
I am about to make another camo purchase. I feel so violated. LOL Seriously though, and I don't want to start a fuss. I just want some honest answers and firsthand experience if available. I hunt early to mid season in temps from 70 to 85 degree weather. I want something for that portion of the season that will work in mostly green environment and will not smother or sweat me to death.(If that is possible) Mid to late season is Going to be either Predator Fall gray which I have a suit of already(though not insulated) or Enigma in some insulated variety. (preferably a bib suit and coat) I already have an insulated Predator fall gray coat, so all I would need is a pair of insulated bibs for that suit to get me thru late season. (Our late season temps rarely dip below 25 degrees) I really like the looks of the Enigma, but I don't know how well it is going to work in early season green woods. And... will it be too hot for my region? I am strongly considering going with the Predator green deception for early season because all I would need is a long sleeve t-shirt and a pair of BDU's. Just would like to get input from those who know the answers.
Thanks in advance, and please, if you must, go on to the concession stand for popcorn and drinks beforehand. LT |

RE: Help Me Decide
I would stay away from anything that has blue in it like Enigma and Sticks and Limbs as these patterns have blue in them and it is not safe to wear blue in the spring while turkey hunting. If you want an all around pattern for all year I would go with Predator, Asat, or Realtree.;)

RE: Help Me Decide
You just can't let it go can you, how childish....I'd say that there is a significant discrepancy in your theory and comparison in your pictures and you aint see nothing yet.
Everyone if you don't get it, this is HCH's dig at me for the jacket he has posted in contrast to the Enigma very close up. As for the close up in Enigma, I don't see it as blue as well as I wouldn't hestitate to wear it in the spring turkey woods as a verteran turkey hunter. When seeing a hunter, you cannot see this as blue. It's a childish dig at most....tell me if you see turkey head blue in this photo. I sure as hell don't. ![]() But I sure as hell see turkey head blue all over this camo below. ![]() LMAO at the comparison...how sad. |
RE: Help Me Decide
Fair chase! Hunt Naked!
On second thought, don't they'll know for sure you're a turkey. C'mon guys we're all entitled to our opinions. |
RE: Help Me Decide
We are all entitled to opinions; you have yours and I have mine. You said that sticks and limbs "won't fit the bill" as it has blue and not safe. I appreciate you pointing this out an educating me on turkey woods safety. Thank you!!Well, Enigma has blue and I don't think that enigma is safe to wear either in the woods. I have a right to my opinion and so do you. L. Tomkat asked for an opinion and I gave him mine. No need to attack me by calling me childish. I don't see any turkey blue in this sticks and limbs photo either.

Fear not, as far as Enigma goes, you haven't seen anything yet...... I'm just sayin...... mobow, I see only one problem child in both threads. |

RE: Help Me Decide
You already have some Predator, so why not try something new? I'm not sure if the insulated line of Enigma has been released yet (bibs, coveralls etc), but I saw the Wolfskin product today at Len's store and was pretty impressed with the pattern. Even though its not insulated, the key to staying warm in the colder months is layering, so the Enigma would still work fine.
I personally have all of the Realtree/Mossy Oak and have just recent;y purchased some Predator. I plan to buy some other Predator for the early season and pending the funds later this year, I might pick myself up a set of Enigma as well. Asking this forum to pick between Enigma and Predator is going to spur a lot of arguments which we have seen the past few threads about camo. If you ask me, you have Predator, so why not add to the collection and get some Enigma for now and buy the Predator bibs to complete your jacket at a later date. |
RE: Help Me Decide
I can see blue in both but it isn't enough to make me thinkit's a turkey !! Come on who cares IT"S CAMO!! We all have our personal preferences.
Dodge is better than chevy and a ford ain't worth running off a cliff!! So take that!! |
RE: Help Me Decide
First of all, I don't hunt turkey. Never saw the need. I don't care for the taste of wild turkey. The kind that runs around in spring. Although I do remember the kind in the bottle which made me very, uh, let's just say unpredictable.LOL Anyway, back on topic. There is no Enigma/Preditor war going on in my head. I see the benefits of a lot of "different" camo patterns, but the "different" camo patterns is what I am trying to get away from.( I hate doing laundry) I just want an effective suit for early season and a cold weather suit for late season. If by chance I see a great amount of effectiveness to either/both patterns, I will use it for what it is good for. As for blob camo, count me out. Deer see it too well. Nuff said on that. Oh and guys, I appreciate your opinions and I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but if you wanna have a B*&%H Slap fest, please start a new thread.
Thanks, LT |
RE: Help Me Decide
Good point LT, he has a hidden agenda regardless of him playing off and we all know it.. ...
As a veteran turkey hunter, I would not hesitate to wear Enigma in the spring turkey woods, he's looking only to discredit Enigma and as is, it's perfect for turkeys and the new stuff/ new printing including the 3D won't have that light green/aqua hue. Fear not, again LT, you have my aplogy and my PM and like I said in PM, get the matching Predator Bibs and then the rest. Thanks. |

Fear not, again LT, you have my aplogy and my PM and like I said in PM, get the matching Predator Bibs and then the rest. Thanks. Enigma is not changing their color, the first two rolls were printed incorrectly and it's still impressive as it, the next roll was slightly more correct but not what Chuck had invisioned and yet, it's superb. It's called a new company working the bugs out, need me to explain that to you too? As Chuck settles in what his vision is and I never once termed the coin, ultimate camo, just an incredible effective one. You might wanna get off your high horse and my back, your making yourself look foolish. I haven't opening promoted Engima or anything else as far as that goes since your little sticks and limbs thread where you went off on a hissy fit. And yes sir you do have an agenda, it's to downplay Enigma and flame me, you'll lose at both. Do you want to take it up in PM and remain on topic? I would appreciate it or do I need to remove your threads? JB, the pattern will remain as is just tweeked, we need to remember it's a brand new company. As stated above, Chuck is working out the vision he has for his camo. It's great as is and many of Chuck's friends have given him great moral support and ideas. You'll have your skeptics and flamers in all groups. I find it incredibly shallow but yet it pushes companies to strive for more. We see it in all products. I can't wait for the 3D, I saw a sneak preview and as much as I loved my ASAT 3D, I'm going to like this one even more. |
RE: Help Me Decide
Rob, will it ever be available at a retail store?

RE: Help Me Decide
Under Armour makes Heat Gear for hunting in those temps.(70 to 85). It works great in the Texas Heat.

RE: Help Me Decide
I would just like to suggest taking a look at Natural Gear. I have tried and had great success in the early season and throughout winter. I honestly can't tell you why it works, but it sure seems to. I have had better results with it than I did with my ghillie suit from the Marine Corps, which blew my mind for a long time. I have just come to accept it even though I still can't explain it.
To be honest I have never tried the Enigma or Predator so take it for what it is worth. I haven't had much luck with Realtree or Mossy Oak, at least the patterns that I tried. Just my limited experience. |
RE: Help Me Decide
I believe I have made my decision. I will wait to see what the Enigma 3D turns out like. If it is good, it will be my early/mid season suit. I still believe the Predator Fall Gray kicks &ss in late season though. I will continue to use it with the coat and bib setup.By the way huntingson, Ihave wondered about the Nat Gear stuff and almost purchased some. I may have to give it a try. I just believe it is a darker more shadowed environment camo.
I know just about any camo will increase my odds of getting close to deer, but I must make a statement I once heard from a wise elderly gentlemen. He always used to say, "Don't worry if you're not seeing deer son. When it comes your time, it won't matter if you're standing on top of the smokehouse singing Sweet Adelede(sp?), he'll come and look you up." I have always used that statement as a confidence builder when I had doubts on my setup, camo, ect.... Thanks, Rob, for the info. Thanks also to EVERYONE who posted their opinion here. I value experience more now than ever. LT has left the buiding. |
RE: Help Me Decide
