out of only about the 20 days or so i hunted i saw maybe 15 different bucks. only 3 were shooters (above 125") one being in the 140"s. This includes the deer in my avatar. The rest were a mix of smaller eight, six points and scrub bucks. Intrestingly i saw as many bucks this year as i did does.

I had 28 mature buck sightings from my stands. I logged 79 hunts from my stands, over 60 different days. The hunts averaged about 3 hours each. I'm at work or I'd look at my records and tell you how many does, fawns and immature bucks that I saw also.

I only hunted bow season no gun season for me. Here in Central IL I seen around 20-25 different bucks, this isn't counting bucks that I seen numerous times or more than once. I would say8-10 of them were mature bucks. The rest being smaller.

Greg that is awesome that you log all of that info about your hunts throughout the year. I do it throughout the summer when I am bass fishing but I have never logged my hunts like I do my fishing trips. I believe next year I will try it. Do you use a field journal to keep your records or do you just do it on the computer in excel or word or something similar. Just curious.

My records are made up by me. I started keeping records in 1986. I wrote in a notebook, little stories about my hunts along with the weather and wind. I did this until the late '90s, then got away from records keeping. Then I started back up in 2002. This year I didn't tell the stories, just recorded sightings, weather, wind, AM, PM and stand location. I keep it all on the computer and use excell and chart the info. I did like the story telling though. I thought that one day maybe my grandkids might want to page through my notes, you never know. This year I am going to add a short description of each hunt in my notes. I'm a numbers guy, I like messing with the numbers and making graphs. Here's a couple, look at the info, see what you think.

I had about 25 deer come out into the field my first afternoon up in a stand. 3 of them were bucks for sure. I couldn't tell what about 15 of them were because it was getting dark and they were about half way out in the field.

3 Bucks with approx 20-25 hours on stand this season (didn't get out as much as I wanted). One of them was a shooter. Saw several doe almost every time out this season, though. There just wasn't a lot of bucks around this year for some reason (very little sign as well).

I saw 17 and shot 1. Not all mature, didn't keep track on that basis. I hunted for 1 week in Nebraska. Had shot opportunities at all but one. Shot my deer the first morning and didn't see any really big ones so let them walk.
