I went on my first elk hunt in 05 and was lucky enough to get a nice 6x6 bull. It was a great hunt!! I had 6 cows almost run me over as I stood next to a tree. They passed on both sides of me at 5 yards. Then the bull stepped out at 30 yards. I put a perfect shot on him, just behind the shoulder and the broadhead stuck in the offside shoulder blade. He went about 100 yards.

I was planning to go back to New Mexico this year, but my wife was diagnosed with Luckemia.I called the outfitter and told him I could not make a commitment this year as the future is too uncertain. Just don't know what will be happening by then. But I will go back sometime. Hearing those elk screaming and the rush of seeing them come in is just too much fun not to do again. Kind of like hunting 1000 lb turkeys.
