What a night! Big buck down! (Pics)
#1
Just got back in from tonights hunt. I went with my buddy Jeff to this spot where we have seen a few nice bucks while glassing this ridge. We hiked in there with stands and all and got them hung. I was expecting tonight to be more ofa "scouting" night since we didnt have time to clear lanes and everything.
About 45 minutes into the hunt something in the woods bumbed a bunch of deer toward us. About 20 deer came barreling through the timber including two bucks (one descent). After all that got settled i saw a deer coming. I thought it was one of the smaller bucks that ran through earlier but i was definately wrong.
Out steps this great 10 pointer with a drop tine/double main beam on his right side. He come about 40 yards when this doe starts to wind us. The buck keeps staring at the doe when she starts walking toward him. She turns and comes toward us then all of a sudden runs off. The buck take a few steps then stops. Jeff drew back(the deer heard him) and shot @ 40 yards.
Just as the arrow hit the deer it turned in so the arrow went basically from the front shoulder all the way to right in front of the back leg. We backed out and decided to look at the footage. After looking at the footage we think that it was a really good shot so were headed out in the morning to retreive him. Ill post pics tomorrow. (Assuming everything goes as planned)
