Greg, my son killed an 8-point this season and it also had a hole on the beam in about the same spot as yours. I have been wondering what causes this also.

If I'm not mistaken the hole forms when the deer is in velvet and a bug will bore into the soft horn for the blood and once the horn hardens it leaves the hole.
