I don't have a limit or an allowance. If I need it, I get it. My biggest expense is gas. I know I've spent over 1k on it so far.

Im a kid so only up to $500 thank god for b-days and christmas. I'll buy my tags with that, maybe a few arrows and a camo piece or two but nothing big. I just need a bow, now haven't got one yet...

Spending on hunting is all realitive to your means and what turns you on. $5000 could be low to some while $500 could be high to others. Heck you could drop$5000 every year on air fair alone while others could do all their hunting out the back door and not even be buying gasoline to go. Talk about buying and owning land and you could easily be spending 5 grand a year on property taxes aloneand the next guy might have access to more and better land than the guy that owns and not be paying a dime for it.

RE: spending limits?

I try to fund my hunting with finances from outside our family budget. Last year I donated plasma to replace my 20 year old bow (purchased a used bow instead of going new) and also used this as a source of funds forother hunting related purchases. I also found a bargain on some things that I knew I could turn around and sell on eBay for a profit. All of this money goes into my hunting account. The amount of time I spend in the field is enough of a strain without my hunting expenses being dragged into the equation. Last year was not an average year since I had a couple of big ticket items (blind and bow). This year should be much cheaper. I do not go out on out of state hunts due to the cost in dollars and time.

Last years spending:
Double bull blind $350
Used bow $475
Turkey license $27
Deer licenses $120
Hunting/fishing license $50
Buck Roar call $20
Gas $??

I was lucky to harvest some nice deer this year, so it was time/money well spent.

I'm somewhere around $1,000/year (and climbing now that Bass Pro is only 5 minutes away [:@]). Mine mostly consists of tree stands. I'm always aquiring different little chunks of land to hunt and hanging 2 or 3 new stands a season. License, taxidermy:), arrows, scent stuff, etc........ all adds up.

The addition of my Summit Viper this year will hopefully cut some costs on the stands (duh should've invested in that years ago[:-])
