|
RE: spending limits?
i but a new bow every year and purchase at least 2-3 new scent elimination suits, boots, new optics, ect im allowed 5000.00 a year for hunting and fishing and that is it....no questions asked or the wife gets a little upset.....
|
RE: spending limits?
I don't understand why you would spend that kind of money every year on that stuff!
I spend maybe 600 every year if that, the ony way that I would go over is if I was to go and buy a new gun or bow. |
RE: spending limits?
Wow that's a lot of money. What do you do with all your 1 year used gear?
|
RE: spending limits?
spending allowance??? man some guys are REALLY tied down....i will NEVER have a set spending limit by ANYONE...if i want it..have the cash and nothing more important to buy...im buying it PERIOD..
|
RE: spending limits?
Wow if you ever want to sell anything let me know.
|
RE: spending limits?
5000 a year is excesive . I'm definatly in the 0-500 range
|
RE: spending limits?
I would say I spend less than two hundred dollars in a year since I have everthing already.
I'll replenish some sents that I like to use for deer and I might buy new turkey mouth calls with a few other toys to play with. |
RE: spending limits?
Unless i buying a new bow I dont spend that much. And my last bow was in 98-99 I just orderd a new one last week. So im set for a long time. I buy arrows for 3-D but thats because sooner or later they get shot up(only so many arrows fit in a 12 spot). For hunting i might need arrows every few years and some new broad heads or blades. The only thing that i know that i buy every year is a large bottle of sent eliminator(about $8-$9)As far as camo goes I have a secret: The deer dont know that the stuff goes out of style, but dont tell them. Because then i would have to update mine.
If i had $5000. a year to spend on hunting gear i would take the money and go ona nice hunt. I think that would be more fun then having new bow, arrows, boots, camo, ect. That does raise another ? what do you spend on hunts if you spend $5000 on gear? |

RE: spending limits?
I still use camo I have from the 80's. If i don't buya new bow then it just arrows. scents, hand warmer, broadheads ect. I did buy a new pair of boots from cabelas to replace the pair I had for 7years [$185]. I will say if I want it I buy it. The last time I bought a new bow was 1999. I will say though if I want it I will buy it! I gess Im in the $500 range.

RE: spending limits?
I don't really have one. BUT, it gets less every year. I stopped buying gadgets and dodads. I buy arrows, camo a new bow every 6 or 7 to 20 years. Why would anyone need to buy NEW optics every year. Breakdown and buy some good ones and you'll never have to buy them again. I stopped buying anything with scent lok in it because it's not worth the extra bucks. I bought non resident tags in 3 states this year which ups the bill by several hundred, but I'm still way under your "allowance" I'd say you're probably wasting half your allowance on unnecessary dubplication. Not counting trucks and stuff like that, my worst year was probably half your allowance. Now if you count fishing trips to Canada and things like that, well... they aren't hunting I tell ya.... it isn't hunting.[8D] The only reason I know how much I usually spend, my wife use to add it up and wave it in front of my face every January when the last Credit card bill came in.[&:]

RE: spending limits?
Lifetime lisence, so nothing for tags. I might buy a few arrows. My bow is 7 years old and I don't plan on replacing it anytime soon. I may buy one or two articles of clothing each year, but that would be less than $100 on average. The biggest items would be things like gasoline, corn for the feeders, seed for food plots and stuff like that. I might buy a tree stand every couple of years, but $100 would kill that.
The biggest expense of them all, though is the land payment on my 40 acres, but it's one of the best things I ever did, buying that land. |
RE: spending limits?
I know some guys who spend 10-20 times that amount. They have been very kind to me and my family.Myself I buy what I need and try and spend no more. It adds up that's for sure. Wife is very supportive. She knows I need, love to hunt.
|
RE: spending limits?
Wow, 5k a year!! must be nice. the truck that gets me back and forth to the hunting grounds cost half that. i am more in the 0-500 range.
|
RE: spending limits?
I fall in the 500-1000 category. That includes all my tags, food and gas for away trips, and such as that.
I usually buy a dozen new arrows a year, normally a pack or two of broadheads, wool socks, scent elimination products, and any upgraded equipment for my bow. This past year I bought new sights. I also get a new bow every year, but working at the Pro Shop affords me one I don't pay for.....And all of my other stuff is considerably cheaper than consumer cost...So I got a good thing going there I think. ;) |
RE: spending limits?
Im a kid so only up to $500 thank god for b-days and christmas.
|
RE: spending limits?
Some clothing every year, arrows, always picking up a couple more tree stands, tree steps etc. an unguided out of state hunt every year, hopefully some taxidermy every year.Typically in the $2000 to $2500 range. The out of state hunt is approximately $1500 of the total.
|
RE: spending limits?
I don't know but I really don't want to add it all up. Between out of state tags, gas money, equipment and gear, food plots and equipment for those, etc it's a lot. It gets to be less and less though it seems because when I buy there are things I won't have to buy again.
|
RE: spending limits?
wow man what kind of bows do you have from years before and old scent eklimination suits.. i will definately buy some.. PM me man
|
RE: spending limits?
heck! the sky's the limit! if i have money, and i go into a hunting store, i walk out with no money:Di spent 1400 dollars in one month once:(
|
RE: spending limits?
I don't have a limit or an allowance. If I need it, I get it. My biggest expense is gas. I know I've spent over 1k on it so far.
|
RE: spending limits?
I might splurge and goBIG this year and get some Scent Lok Socks:DIf my wife says its O.K.[&o]
|
RE: spending limits?
501.- 1000.

RE: spending limits?
ORIGINAL: mallard stalker Im a kid so only up to $500 thank god for b-days and christmas. I'll buy my tags with that, maybe a few arrows and a camo piece or two but nothing big. I just need a bow, now haven't got one yet... |
RE: spending limits?
Spending on hunting is all realitive to your means and what turns you on. $5000 could be low to some while $500 could be high to others. Heck you could drop$5000 every year on air fair alone while others could do all their hunting out the back door and not even be buying gasoline to go. Talk about buying and owning land and you could easily be spending 5 grand a year on property taxes aloneand the next guy might have access to more and better land than the guy that owns and not be paying a dime for it.

RE: spending limits?
guys i guess i forgot to include the most expensive part of my allowance a year, i go on at least 4 out of state hunts every year and that eats up a lot of my money sorry fellers wasnt tryin to brag but me and the old lady were just arguing about what i spend a year and wanted some feedback...

RE: spending limits?
I try to fund my hunting with finances from outside our family budget. Last year I donated plasma to replace my 20 year old bow (purchased a used bow instead of going new) and also used this as a source of funds forother hunting related purchases. I also found a bargain on some things that I knew I could turn around and sell on eBay for a profit. All of this money goes into my hunting account. The amount of time I spend in the field is enough of a strain without my hunting expenses being dragged into the equation. Last year was not an average year since I had a couple of big ticket items (blind and bow). This year should be much cheaper. I do not go out on out of state hunts due to the cost in dollars and time.
Last years spending: Double bull blind $350 Used bow $475 Turkey license $27 Deer licenses $120 Hunting/fishing license $50 Buck Roar call $20 Gas $?? I was lucky to harvest some nice deer this year, so it was time/money well spent. |
RE: spending limits?
I'm somewhere around $1,000/year (and climbing now that Bass Pro is only 5 minutes away [:@]). Mine mostly consists of tree stands. I'm always aquiring different little chunks of land to hunt and hanging 2 or 3 new stands a season. License, taxidermy:), arrows, scent stuff, etc........ all adds up.
The addition of my Summit Viper this year will hopefully cut some costs on the stands (duh should've invested in that years ago[:-]) |
