I'm interested in going on a bowhunting trip next year, and would like to hear opinions on good states/places to go with quality public land in chase of a trophy. We are a bit spoiled in Northern Wisconsin with the National Forests and vast amount of public timber company land, but the deer numbers are down. Would like to find a place with quality public land, and of course good deer numbers.

I used to hunt public ground in Southern Illinois. There's a decent amount of ground there tohunt andplenty of big deer. There's a fair amount of public ground in Central Missouri as well. You should check with each state's DNR or Department of Conservation for hunting ground.

One place I have hunted in the past is FT. Bragg NC it is open to public nice racks size is not the greast but there are deer every where.

You come to north east kansas andI will show you plenty of unhunted public land where you will have the chance at big mature bucks.

Is Kansas on a draw system for non-res. hunters?

There are no Deer here in MO MO Land. I wuld go to Il or Kansas. I guy I work with is Hunting Public ground in KS and has seen several 130 plus bucks but never closeenough to shoot. He is Hunting west of Pittsburg and Ft Scott KS on Strip Pits.

Motown I have always been intrested in hunting Kansas. Where about in Kansas are you? I have a real good friend who is a firefighter in witchita and says he has been seeing some good deer around those parts!
