Great story Mauser06. Had a similar occurence myself once. 5 minute drive. Bow was in the case till i got there and realized it wasn't. After my palm hit my forehead a couple of times i laughed for ten minutes back n forth to the house and had a nice afternoon in the tree.
I would hate those circumstances if it involved a six hour drive though. That would be a bad deal. |
RE: This cant be good
just sounds like a perfect opportunity to find a local bowshop and buy a new bow. :D

I once drove45 minutes to find i didn't have the key to the trigger lock on the gun . I didn't have the time to go back and forth to go get it plus i was with somebody so i didn't want to wreck his hunt .

RE: This cant be good
I was getting some shooting practice in before I headed out hunting one day. The phone rang, I set my bow down and answered it. Ended up talking on the phone for longer than I wanted. I was in a hurry and wanted to go to a stand that was going to be a long hike. So I grab my bow, jump in my truck, and off I go. Takes me about a half hour to get to my stand. I climb up, get all situated, go to knock an arrow ...................[:-] I left my quiver with my arrows on the ground where I was practicing.

RE: This cant be good
Granted things get forgotten but never the bow, arrows or my release when driving to my hunting spots.
One night when I got back to my truck, I set the bow on top of the cab to dig for keys and put my gear away. It was really dark by the time I got back to the truck. I hopped in the truck and started driving. Kept thinking I was forgetting something. After about 3/4 mile it dawned on me. Looked back and no bow laying on the back seat!! [&:] [:o] Coasted to a stop whilecussing myself for being so stupid. Got out and the bow was still on top of the cab. :D Tim |

Drove all the way down south for a weeklong bowhunting trip only to find I FORGOT THE KEYS TO THE CAMPER!! TWICE!!!

RE: This cant be good

Happened to my husband, first week of bowhunting season. It was funny as heck. He had just joined the bow club here and a few guys had invited him to hunt with them. He was really excited, but in a really big hurry! He has had that happen when he was coon hunting too, but out of the 5 guys, NO ONE had a weapon, so he didn't catch any grief for it.

I once hiked about a half mile through snow with a stand and climbing sticks, bow to find I had forgotten my arrows! I have to take my quiver off for it to fit in my case. I put the quiver in the back of my SUV, not in the case.
When I was in College a buddy and I drove three hours to Duck Hunt. When we got to the spot he realized he forgot his gun. That is a whole nother story with a long night as the excuse. |
RE: This cant be good
Great story man! But why in the world would you drive that far for some squirrels?

RE: This cant be good
I leave my bow in the pickup all the time. It's a supercab and it just lays on the back seat. It's the last thing I grab on the way to the stand and the first thing put away when I get back. Once, though, I had it in the house for some reason and got all the way to my hunting spot before I missed it. It's only 8 miles, though. Once this year I started walking to my stand and got a couple of blocks before I realized I didn't have my bow.
