I'm familiar with land prices in Illinois - since I live and hunt here.

A person only needs some money down and steady income to finance land. Some people are happy to divide land to make it more affordable, especially to a friend or relative.

So borrowing a comment from Don Higgins, do you really need that Harley Davidson or brand new Camper? You have to decide what your priorities are: land or hobbies.

maybe you could work out a lease or something with the new owners, do what you can to still be able to hunt there if its that good of a spot.

Stay in contact with whoever buys. Explain your situation and maybe you'll get lucky.

I'm trying to talk one of my friends family to buy it (they own alot of other farmland around the area), and none of them deer hunt. The only thing is they don't usually buy land with a lot of woods.

Time will tell, we are not ruling out the possibilty of some guys coming up with some money.

Could they break it up, so maybe you could buy part of it?

Any reason why you can't hunt some of their land?

I feel your pain. I was a younger man without a penny as I watched my Grandfather sell his ranch. His place had great access to some prime hunting in East-central Idaho. Great elk hunting on the mountain, buck hunting along the river bottoms, and some world class trout fishing. The guy who bought it closed it all up to anyone, and built a huge house right off one of the best fishing holes, making all access to the public areas next to impossible....

IBH,
Your so right, we should never take for granted the lands were hunting now. Sprawl in the islands is really affecting spots weve hunted and fished for our whole life. Its really hard to stop , so appreciate it now
