What have you owned?
With all the discussions on what bow manufacturer is your favorite, it got me wondering what people have really tried out. SO I have two questions
How long have you been shooting a bow? What bows have you owned during that time? Guess I will start Shooting for 23 years now Started with a Jennings Black lightning then a American Archer Onieda tomkat PSE Martin Ben Pearson Hoyt |

RE: What have you owned?
Well,
I took a fiberglass recurve for a walk when I was 12 in 1978. I started getting serious with a wooden recurve when I was 15 back in 1981. I used that bow until I received a Bear Black Bear II which I used for a number of years. Then I had a Jennings Carbon Extreme XLR and started competitive 3D. I was asked to shoot for Hoyt so thus started the trend. 96 Hoyt Defiant 97 Tenacity 98 Tenacity II 99 Striker II 2000 Defiant 2001 Hoyt VorTec in 01 I built my log home. I was out of the circuit for the house and life. Something needed to take a back seat and competition and the traveling involved was it. It was very good to me. This past spring I was in the market. After tagging out with my VorTec which I loved for the last 5 years, I decided it was time for a new bow. I ended up purchasing (after shooting a Trykon, Allegiance, Tribute and Switchback) the two I hold today, well there's more to the story. I sold my VorTec to a good friend. 2006 Bowtech Allegiance and 2006 Hoyt Trykon (I then sold this bow to my friend (Q2INWHITETAILS). Currently I'm with a single bow for the first time in 10 years. ( Allegiance) However I still have my old Bear Black Bear II and someday want to take another deer with it, just for nastalgia. |
RE: What have you owned?
Man I couldn't even begin to list all the bows I have owned....
I can't even recall what my first couple bowsmodel names were but they were are PSE and a Bear both were from the early to mid 90's..... Most of the bows I didn't keep very long and ended up selling on AT and to my buddies.... I got good discounts through my local shop as a shop shooter. I was able to sell the bows as slightly used for basically the same I paid for them. He closed his doors for retirement in 05 and if you notice it was when I stopped buying so many bows! Browning Afterburner (late 90's) Browning Mantis (00) Hoyt Magnatec (02) Hoyt Supertec (03) Hoyt Cybertec (03) Hoyt Xtec (04) Hoyt Vipertec (04) Hoyt Protec (04) Hoyt Vtec (05) BowTech Extreme VFT (03) BowTech Patriot Dually (03) BowTech Mighty Mite ( 03 + 04) BowTech Patriot SC (03 + 04) BowTech Pro 40 (Freedom Cam) (04) BowTech Liberty (04) BowTech Allegiance (05) BowTech Tribute (06) Of all of them the 2005 BowTech Allegiance was my favorite with the 04 BowTech Patriot SC second. RE: What have you owned?
I bought a used Martin Firecat from a guy at work in 1996. Shot it in a 3D league for about a year, then it went on the shelf until about 2002. Still had not hunted with it at all. I started bow hunting in 2003, and shot that bow for a couple of years, and then decided it was time to get a new bow. Now I own a PSE Fireflight. Its still not the top of the line bow, but compaired to my old Martin it was a much better bow. Sold my old Martin to a guy that I work with. I envy you guys that have multiple bows.

RE: What have you owned?
Thanks everyone, I just find it interesting all the different personalities within the Archery world. Some change their bows about as often as they change their underwear and others stick to one or two that are tried and true. Sorry if this was a repeat as someone mentioned, I tried to search the archive and could not find it.

I been involved with archery for 21 years. Started out with a PSE Pulsar, then a PSE Fire Flight, to a Golden Eagle Evolution, and now a Hoyt Trycon. I shot the Golen Eagle for 10 years and still use it as a back up bow. I probably would also be shooting the Fire Flight if it wasn't lost to a fire.
|
RE: What have you owned?
Heck don't think I can remember all of them. My firstcompound was made for me by Pearson Archery. That was when they first started tinkering with the idea of makingyouth compound bows. I had the first one off the line. I guess it was a prototype back then. I would have to ask my dad to be sure. I still have it at home.I'm pretty pleased with Hoyt though. After being able to shoot pretty much all of them Idon't think I would ever switch.

RE: What have you owned?
Let me see,
-I started on a fiberglass bear recurve when I was a kid. -Many different cheap recurves by places like indian etc. -Moved to a Herters recurve. -Got another Herters recurve. -Bought my first compound in early 80s, a bear, black bear. -Pearson Bush master in early 80s, compound. -Moved onto a Hoyt excell in mid 80s as a compound. -Pearson recurve for fishing -hoyt recurve, which later gave to friend. -Black mamba recurve in late 80s for hunting. Ran over it last year and broke it. -Custom made long bow, which I had stolen a few months after I got it. -College and family came so I hunted with what I had. -PSE fishing bow -Made a Hoyt power tech with excell limbs and saber cams. -Later in 90s, hoyt razor tech. -Made a Hoyt power tech with redline limbs and H.O. Cam and idler. Sold Hoyt razor tech, Hoyt excell power tech combo, Hoyt excell, and gave away person bushmaster as well as black bear (wish I had the old black bear riser to make a recurve out of now.) -Bought another herters recurve on ebay not long ago. -Looking for a nice long bow now. Now hunt with Herters recurves, and my Hoyt redline powertech combo. most of the time. |
