Default Deer eyes???

My buddy dropped a nice buck a couple weeks ago with about 15 minutes of legal shooting light left. He got it back to the house and about 20 minutes later the game warden showed up (totally unrelated, she needed to seal an otter my buddy trapped). She was impressed with the buck, listened to the story and as she went to seal the otter, she reached down and touched the deer's eyeball, and it compressed. My question is...was she checking to see if the deer had been spotlighted? Does the eye become hard if it was killed with the aid of a light????

What do you mean by 'compressed'?

Blinked?
Or, shifted rearwards in the socket?

I would assume it was just a way of estimating how long it had been dead. If it was only like 15 minutes prior to getting there, I would assume the eyeball would have been a little harder, and the longer it is dead, it loser some pressure. Just my assumption..

She basically just touched it, and the eyeball compressed a bit.
