I have found several knivesand a couple of seat cushions t/omy hunting years and they have all been found at gut piles. Many people get excited after killing their deer and will leave the knife after gutting the deer out. I usually check out any gut pile to seeif anything was left behind.

I found aFlare on a military Base hunting a few years back. That was on the side of a tree rigged up as a trip wire.I didnt no what it was at the time it look like it had been there for a year or 2.So i took it off the tree and was looking at it and it SAID PULL PIN 2 FIRE.With out ''THINKING'' i pulled the pin and it went off i threw it on the ground fast and it was so bright you could hardly look at it.It started to catch the wood's on fire luckly there was a creek right there i kick it in.That was my most memorable gear find.

My dad back in '89 found a 33 winchester in an old cabin in Idaho in the backwoods perfectly good condition and he still hunts with it occasionally its worth about $3,000.00 maybe more if the serial numbers are low enough. And my cousin found a 195" mule deer skelton was all intakt with a coyote dead next to it all bones they must have fought really hard!

This year after I killed my archery buck, I was walking around the farm, and exploring some neighboring private property that I'd recently gotten exclusive permission to hunt. Supposedly, nobody else was allowed to be in there.

So, I see something on the ground - white. furry. I get closer to examine - it's a set of deer testicles. No joke. Just laying there. I stepped on 'em, and they were still soft and smooshy, so I pick 'em up - still warm! I see something else - it's a deer's tail. No joke, just a tail laying in the woods. Cut off at the base and left laying in the woods. Tail and testicles. I look around for a gutpile - nothing. I can see where the deer was dragged down to an atv trail, and apparently loaded up. Seriously, who kills a buck, then cuts off his testicles and tail, and just takes him like that? Okay, it gets better.

Now, I'm wondering if I'm on candid camera or something, and I walk back up into the posted ground where I found the deer pieces and start looking around. I was trying to see the tree that the guy was hunting out of - looking for climber tracks or a lock-on. Finally, I see a big platform stand hung atop a red oak along the field edge (on private property), and not only was the treestand still there, but so was a brand new hoyt bow, a laser rangefinder, a backpack, a jacket, quiver full of arrows, etc..I'm standing on the ground taking inventory with my bino's. Hmm... I don't have a rangefinder. I could use a new bow. Nice jacket. Hmm...

Apparently, this guy got a deer on the posted ground, and was in such a hurry to get it out of there, that he just left everything he owned hanging in the tree. Testing my honesty for sure.

So I left everything alone, then when I took my cart down in to get my deer out a few hours later, I re-routed out past his stand and sure enough - everything was still hanging there. Still no hunter. At this point, I became concerned that something may have happened and the guy for whatever reason left everything there. I was gonna take everything down and deliver it to the landowner's place, but I wanted to let the sleeping dog sleep and not stir the mud.

I went down there the next day with the intention of gathering up all the gear if it was still there, but it was gone by then. Apparently he came back at some point. My guess is that he was at the local watering trough telling whales tales about how he got his buck, and how he had to stop back out later and pick up his gear. Meanwhile, there I am standing at the bottom of his tree staring at his shiny new bow, and hundreds in clothing and equipment....

Seriously - who trespasses into a piece of posted property, hangs up a treestand, then shoots a buck, cuts off its testicles and tail, then loads it onto a quad (still not gutted), and leaves $2000 worth of gear hanging in the treestand. ...and doesn't come back for at least 4 hours! LOL Some people....
