Wow...quite impressive. Does anyone know a scientific explanation for this? It looks like may have some latent moose genes, as strange as that sounds.

I seriously doubt that they are palmated due to any moose genes. Palmation of the antlers is not as uncommon as you might think, I think it probably has to do with a combination of genetics and diet / habitat in which the deer lives. It happens more than you think even though it usually is not in as big of a place or covering as much of an antler is it is on that monster.
