Default Intrusion Camo?

Hey all,
Lookin at ordering a new bowhunting jacket from Grey wolf woolens, I was hoping to get Predator deception camo because im looking for a more versitile pattern than the Fall grey, but its not offered.

I like the high contrast patterns like predator, asat, enigma, etc... Intrusion seems to be a newer pattern that has the same effect.

Any pictures, thoughts, or experience w/ the Intrusion Deadfall pattern?? Again, remember im looking for a more all purpose camo that will be good in early and late season, from the ground or air, as well as in the spring for turkey. I woulda ordered Predator's fall brown or decpetion, but they dont offer it for their wolfskin products.

Thnks for the help,

PS. mods if you want to move this to another forum go ahead, i just wanted to maximize my viewings, (need to order by christmas )

You should check out Enigma. They are made of wolfskin material, which is really durable. They are also coming out with a 3-D suit soon, which is good for both turkey and deer.

There's a very successful bowhunter who frequents these forums and goes by Lonewolf who'll be doing a lot of hunting in Intrusion this year... You could PM him and ask him his feelings about it.

Yea, i will probably contact lonewolf, he sent me a sample of the wolfskin stuff and it sold me on the material... just what i am looking for in a bowhunting coat, waterproof and quiet...

Im probably gonna order the deadfall pattern, i just was checkin to see if anyone else uses it... I have alot of predator stuff and love it, but just cant commit to going w/ fall grey, when im spending that much $$ i wanna make sure i can use it more than from nov&dec.

I was going to ask the same question, have'nt heard any talk about it on here. It looks like great stuff and appeals to me much more than the others discussed here. Did'nt see any prices though, can't be cheap!

Ed, from what I understand you won't get Wolfskin cheaper than Enigma plus customize to your exact specs, and all the success stories that are coming in, it's amazing for a camo that only came out in late Sept.

Either way, I think you'll make out fine.

www.graywolfwoolens.com

Thats the site that has alot of the wolfskin products, you can also get wolfskin on the enigma site (just not a huge fan of that pattern though),

its a great material and is more than reasonably priced if you ask me...

Since you brought that up, I'll take just a sec to address that... and I'm not trying to sell you on any one brand over another, but I see this mentioned some times. You go with what makes you happy...

Let me start by showing a couple pics...

This is from a HNI member who inadvertently walked by his trail cam out in the open woods:

And I know you've seen me post this photo before; the point is to show both together -- as I don't know if they've ever been shown in the same post: One on the ground, the other in the tree:

OK, I guess here's my thought: If the camo works this good in the open with no leaves on the trees, and the subject isn't hidden behind a myriad of limbs, boughs and other tree trunks... how good would it work if you did add all that other stuff? Even if that foliage were green?

Now, it won't take but a quick search to see that I wore Spring Green early this year -- but until I had that option, I wore Fall Gray year-round, with great results I might add. If you take any of the Predator patterns and turn them into black and white, (the classic patterns, as I call them: Fall Brown -- which is almost unavailable anyway -- Fall Gray and Spring Green), they all look alike anyway.

In fact, my first mature doe I killed in Missouri was taken at 11 yards or so with me wearing Fall Gray in mid-September, with at least two and possibly three fawns around her. You know that makes for a very wary momma animal, and the predominant color in the trees was obviously green.

Again, take the phenomenal ability of this pattern to literally just obliterate the human outline and it's fantastic by itself. Throw some foliage on top of it -- well, you're gonna be mighty hard to see from an animal's perspective.

Greg, I completely agree w/ you bout the fall grey, i have used it w/ great success this year. But for my early season hunts i used deception and had great luck w/ it. I just wish i could get it in deception, see i want to be able to use it for turkey as well and i dont think fall grey would be the best choice for a spring ground hunt... I guess im looking for a pattern thats as close to deception as possible, and i think the intrusion deadfall is pretty good...

btw, i do have a fall grey bucksuede jacket i wear over warm layers in the late season hunts, and a fall brown insulated jacket thats just a bit to bulky for bowhunting... im mostly looking for a waterproof jacket to wear as a shell most of the year

Just thought i'd throw in a pic of deception in the green foilage... just cause its the type of pattern im looking for....

I know what you mean... Obviously, you know I've made the study of camoflouge a bit of a priority in my latter bowhunting years. During my studies, I came across this quote fromRob/Pa bowyer, who's been featured on nationally released videos as a pro-staffer for a turkey call company; I think he knows a thing or two about getting turkeys in close!

Now he's talking about ASAT, which was his camo of choice in those days -- but his point still stands about camo not needing green in it to be tremendously effective during the spring hunting season:

"... that tells me you know little about the science behind camoflauge. Please tell me then how I can have turkeys all but step on me in the open while wearing ASAT in the green woods......Tell me then why no animals, predator or prey has green as their primary color...in fact all animals are brown, tan and black...especially the female of all bird species. The only living thing that may think you stand out like a sore thumb would be humans and even then, I doubt they would see you in ASAT....you'd be shockingly surprised to say the least. But heck, yes your Realtree will work fine but ASAT allows me to even get away with movement on PA Gobblers and if you can get PA gobblers that close, you can get them close anywhere in the country."

Anyway... Again -- not trying to sell you on anything at all. Heck, I don't get one red cent from the sale of one bit of Predator or anything else out there on the market... Just trying to help clear up this perceived misconception that I've seen from time to time that a person can only wear Fall Gray after the leaves come off ...
